HP Laptop with a black screen, but keyboard lights are on.
I have a three month old HP HDX18-1180us. It worked fine until about three days ago, when I heard an abnormal noise coming from the cooling fan. I shut the laptop down for the night, and when I opened it to start it up the next day, the screen was black, but all keyboard lighrs are on.

Inappropriate?I have a similar problem as well. I have a Pavilion dv4000 and have never had a problem with it. Shut it down last night as I do every night, and this morning go to turn it on as I normally do, keyboard lights came on and I could hear it running/powering up...however, the screen is totally black nothing there. I held the power button down to turn it off, since I couldn't see the screen to shut it down that way, powered it back up and same exact thing. Lights on keyboard, black screen. I've taken the battery out and replaced after a few hours, and still the same problem. I hit the 'stand by' button at the top right of the keyboard and for a few short seconds, I could see the background...but immediately went right back to the black screen. I'm so aggravated as to what to do...So, I would greatly appreciate any other suggestions or advice... Thanks!
