HP Pavillion Pavilion and Presario Manufactuer's Error
3:45 pm
On hold w/ HP (going on 20 minutes) - their Pavilion laptops have a manufacturer's error and they are saying I need pay cuz my warranty ran out 1 month ago.
They've documented the problem here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/do...
From HP's website...
The following symptoms apply to Pavilion dv2000 and Presario v3000 notebooks:
• The notebook does not detect wireless networks and the wireless adapter is not detected in the Device Manager.
• There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor.
...beautiful. Doesn't HP get rave reviews for customer service? Where is it?
4:00 pm
I have asked for a "superior" on the phone. Things have been silent for 10 minutes and I hear them chatting in the backgound. I keep saying "hello? hello?" but no-one answers.
36 minutes and counting...
4:17pm
Supervisor finally picked up and can't help. On we go to the "Case Manager"...
53 minutes and counting...
4:27pm
Hold music just started.
1 hour 4 minutes...
4:29pm
Indian guy on the other end... "Nicole are you there? Oh my!? Hold on Sir" Hold music resumes...
1 hour 5 minutes
4:41pm
1 hour 15 minutes on the phone.
Christine says - "Sorry there's nothing we can do. I'll give you 50% off the repair (= $250 off), but even if you were two days outside your warranty we can't do anything for you."
So much for HP. Dell here I come. Maybe its time for a Mac.
Lesson for the day...
If you buy a HP get the extended warranty. Better yet, just don't buy a HP if you expect great customer service.

They used to. Then they expanded and outsource the first-level CS to India.
Mine's in warranty now and I think I'll buy the extension for it.
