Inappropriate?HEY GUYS! i have the exact same problem and...
even tough its not a solution, if you plug in a secondary screen (like an external monitor, or a videoprojector or something) before turning your laptop on, it will start normally, and just 2 seconds after that happens, you can unplugg it, and it will keep working.......so im guessing it must be some sort of trouble with the drivers or the OS
hope i was of some help, and we'll keep on trying
I’m still not happy haha

Inappropriate?ANSWERRRR
I got it fixed
I just updated the BIOS, and installed some NVidia updates that showed up on Windows update...
check for your updates guyss -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem. CONTACT HP!!! The dv6000 had this problem and it was with the motherboard so they extended the warranty for it to 2 years. My warranty ended last month and NOW this happens! They say they don't have reports of this issue (BS) Tell them that the issue exists, I went to their online chat support and told them and they said it will cost $398!!! If you have this problem report it to HP MAYBE (hopefully) they will have enough reports for them to make the warranty 2 years. I think the problem is with the hardware to begin with! HP needs to fix this for free!

Inappropriate? Its funny... I started having this exact same problem a month after my warranty expired. BIOS update did not solve the problem. I will try the NVIDIA driver update.

Inappropriate?ok soo, i know now what the problem is
what happens is, that TX1000's cooling devices dont really work as they should, soo the GPU ovearheats, and burns some Graphics related connections on the MBoard or something, so the only real solution to this, is replacing the Mother Board, and hope it doesnt fry again.
orr wait for HP to aknowledge this issue and recall this pieces of ssshhiitt.
mine still works, even tough it sometimes reaches up to 100 C degrees , i just have to turn it on and off a couple dozen times, till the screen works.
but i stopped doin anything that uses 2 much graphics such as gaming, animated wallpapers etc.
I guess all there is left to do is Wish us all Good Luck with HP's crapppyy customers service..
soo GL PPL

I’m disappointed

Inappropriate?I did some investigation... it could be the NVIDIA chip thats bad... actually the sensor, that senses if the chip is too hot or cold, is probably screwed up and it messes up the booting
I’m disappointed

Inappropriate?Having the same problem with the tx1000 as everybody else. The failure occurs almosts always between 12 and 18 months, just in time for the warranty to expire. HP says some part numbers are covered under recall and some are not, even though the same problem has occured. They have a real lemon here but will not take care of everybody affected. Time to stop buying HP products if they can not take care of their loyal customers. I have purchased 5 laptops from HP but not anymore.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?LOL, every time ppl reply on this post, i get an e-mail from HP notifying me this.
The sender's name is " GET SATISFACTION!(HP)"
Hows that for irony???
I’m ... i just cant believe this

Inappropriate?i also have this problem. my research on google lead me to believe this problem is caused by the defective NVIDIA chipset that was used in several models of HP notebooks. there is no known permanent fix. shipping it back to HP will only give me a replacement chip that has the same defect and in 2 months i will start to see the same problems with display, video, wireless internet, and eventually problems powering up the notebook. don't buy HP
mr never buy HP again

Inappropriate?Hello all,
The real and final problem comes from Nvidia, it's fixable, we fix motherboards like that, TX and DV series.
I am no HP supporter don't get me wrong, but at our shop we have had SONY vaio, acer travel mate and even DELL with the same exact problem so do not blame necessarily only HP :) ...HP is to blame that they did this cheap model DV pavilion and it had too much success :)))
At my computer repair shop we fix these issues and they stay fixed, but I have to recognize that SONY, Acer and Dell are a lot more easy to fix as the engineering inside is a lot better, for the HP we have to do additional engineering inside your laptop so it stays FIXED :)
What I'm trying to say here is: it's easy to blame HP but they just went with the flow and risked on a "less or no tested product"
And here is my tip of the day - here at Bimos.be SPRL (my company) we have noticed that DV - running XP does not have this problem of few have compared to Vista running ones :) high resolutions may also have negative impact - so if you can lower it a little bit.
If you need to contact me please follow the link under :

Inappropriate? What you saw on youtube is just a mirage, (it's temporary), the only thing that works is a "reballing" procedure that you have to perform on your GPU. and to do that yourself well it's about 1500 to 2000 dollars of material.
The procedure consists in taking the GPU -graphics chip "nvidia" out and basically replace the "legs" that attach it to the motherboard. if you do a search on youtube with "reballing" as your search string you'll find a lot videos. Here at bimos.be in Brussels Belgium we have everything and we'll fix your computers.
Give us a mail Bimos.be SPRL
