There's such an active community on Hubdub but many questions aren't as discussed (via comments) as they might be. The commenting functionality until now has been hidden amongst the many tabs on the question page, but we've rearranged things slightly to make it more prominent.
It is now the default tab. Details from the Info tab are available on the "read all" link next to the settlement details (which is a better context for that data), related news is on the right hand panel (as it leads to other pages, like the rest of that panel) and the graph can be enlarged in situ by clicking the Zoom button (more intuitive than a tab at the bottom of the screen).
We're thinking of switching the tab selected by default on the question page from being "News" to "Comments". Any objections? Do people look at the news and click through to read it often?
A suggestion to add to your recent product enhancements on question pages: add a box that displays the beginning likelihood percentages (when the question was created).
The "history" information is usually helpful for the latest changes, but it would be interesting to be able to see where the question "started out".
For new questions, this would provide clear information on potential gaming questions. As it is, one significant bet on a new question can significantly change the displayed percentages, and it's not always clear where the question "began".
When my father (who plays hubdub) and I find questions that seem grossly incorrect we have been sending in settlement requests, asking for the question to be voided, instead of just flagging it. The reasoning behind this is: a settlement request gets the attention of the editor, while a flag probably will not. Is this ok, or is it proffered not?
This is a suggestion to display the Category (categories) that a question is in ON the "Question Page" -- to further enhance the information available to the viewer.
Sometimes I stumble upon a question ... and when I want to find others like it, I might look in the "obvious" category ... but don't find even the "original question" :-|
This would, of course, also allow users to see if (especially new) questions are in the category (categories) they ought to be in.
[Having the displayed category linked would be an added plus ;-) ]
While buying and selling on the US markets questions today, I encountered excruciating delays. If anyone else has these two issues, please say so.
1. The biggest slowdown is around the drawing of the small graphs at the top left of the page, particularly in multiple-choice questions with more than 3 choices. These Flash drawings start to crawl when there's too many lines to draw.
Personally, I only need them occasionally and would LOVE to be able to disable them (provided the odds are still displayed in text). I think this might not only be of benefit to the users, but would take a huge load off the server, especially during in-play markets, when people are refreshing their screens over and over. (Not every refresh demands a redrawn graph). Perhaps a scheme like we currently have for the display or not of news items? Or a button to request a graph draw in place?
2. When I make a prediction, I get sent back to the screen from which I came. Makes sense. I might want to see how I affected the market, or wager again. But when I cash-in, I end up in the middle of what is, in my case at least, an enormous list of my previous cash-ins. I don't want to be there (not to mention how increasingly slow that page is to load). I want to be back in the page from which I pressed the cash-in button (ie the question page or my open predictions page). Again, a huge potential savings in time and effort for me, and in load for the server.
