behind your back...cashing in
I've had it with HUBDUB! I don't care how fast changing or volatile a market is (Will the DOW Jones Industrial Average close at or above 12,500 on 02/13/2008?)....If I choose to "cash in" at +389 within secs of loading the cash in page I should get +389 not docked 261 behind my back because the market changed before I could even click the "cash in" button! If the marked has changed that fast then the program should reflect that and ask again if I wish to cash in or not. What is the point of even playing a market if you agree to one price and before you can blink you end up with a completely different price and not be able to get a word in edgewise........

Nigel,
I'm extremely impressed that your team is so dedicated to making the Hubdub experience positive for all of us beta testers.
I've been a professional software developer for around 20 years, and I've been involved in many betas both as a developer and as a tester, but I don't think I've seen a company/product beta in which the development team was more devoted to the testers.
Good on ya!
I’m expecting bugs, but delighted with the team's response

OK, we've now taken a look. On the make prediction screen if the market moves while you are making a prediction then the system will stop you and inform you of the change. Unfortunately the cash in screen doesn't do that. I have put that on the bug tracker to be fixed.
The second problem was that we made a change to the liquidity parameter today. That had the unwanted side-effect of re-pricing some of the markets. In heyy_joe's case it did it exactly the moment he was cashing in. Our mistake - we will re-credit the difference.
heyy_joe - I have sent you a separate email

Inappropriate? What is the point of even having a cash in button if you will never know that when you click it for X dollars whether you will end up getting X dollars that you agreed to or end up getting Y dollars or Z dollars in the hole?? Who can possibly know what value you will end up with if the program does not give you what you agree too???????
-
Inappropriate? The cash in page should be changed from "you will now receive X dollars" to "you will now receive whatever number the market has changed to before you can click the cash in button"
-
Inappropriate?Hubdub should lock in those profits when you click cash in, having the market move afterward and paying out any differences should require a notice, such as the market has moved and your new profits or loss will be.
I’m pissed

Inappropriate?I agree. They did it to me twice before I checked my cashed in page and saw to my complete disbelief that what I cashed in as 2 profit takings had become 2 huge losses without a word to me that that was occurring......

Inappropriate?Guys, this doesn't seem right. We're looking into it right now.

Inappropriate?correction, happened to me at least 3 times.....

Inappropriate?Agreed.
It's already a great site, with a few irritations from time to time, but a real sense of friendliness and attentiveness from the team (and a great user community too). And we are hitting you guys from all angles with suggestions, demands, complaints, etc. Lots of companies just go radio-silence, but not the HubDub team. You respond, you make changes, and above all you seem to have retained your sense of humour and fun.
I think you've got a real success on your hands in the weeks to come.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I totally agree with InfernalMachine and anaverageamerican. Thank you Hubdub for caring about my issue and fast correction. I must appologize for my anger, I was just so frustrated to be finally making a little bit of cash and to see it all disappear on every attempt to cash in. At that point I could no longer wager on any question without taking a loss instead of my expected gain, the only way left to me to profit was to let the question sit until settlement... Thanks again!
