Earthquakes and All Things Trembling

Earthquake questions are primarily settled using the USGS government website.

However, often information is updated after the event has occurred, which can change the settlement outcomes days and even weeks after.

My solution was to write up a Rule saying that the question will be settled according to the site as checked at the settlement time, with the rationale being that it is not known when data for the site is finalised and suspending markets for an indefinite period of time is not desirable. Settlement would occur within a given time period - either within 12 hours of the end of the dates in question, or 48 hours after the dates in question, which has been suggested by some users.

Another user has correctly pointed out that this is still somewhat arbitrary as it involves predicting when admins will settle the question as well as how many earthquakes will occur.

Does anyone have any ideas for how to resolve this settlement issue? It would be a shame to lose all the earthquake questions.
