How can we improve My Hubdub?
The My Hubdub tab is where you track and manage your predictions. Right now the interface is fairly basic and we are looking to put in a number of improvements to make it easier and more fun to use. For example:
(1) Flexible display - where predictions can be sorted by category, date, amount, time to close etc.
(2) More information - pulled from the question pages to explain e.g. why a question was voided
(3) Archive feature - where you can remove old predictions that are clogging up you current view to a separate archive area.
How else could we improve My Hubdub? How do you typically use it? What problems do you have? (Please tell us these even if you have no suggestions for how to fix them).
Many thanks,
Tom

Inappropriate?I'd like a calculator which translates a target probabilty into cash.
Right now we have those 3 buttons for 20/50/100 investments and how those influence the probabilty. But that surely isn't of any help for those guys who put in $1k or more.
So when "Yes" is at 34,5% for example and I want to invest till it hits 41,0%, than I'd like a box where I type in 41,0 (%) and it tells me how much money this would need and if I want to do this investment now. That would prevent that market rushes up and down between the extremes just because we put in far too much money.
Oh and I'd suggest a maximum level of participation for every user on any question. Would prevent that a handfull of players dictate the trends or take all the advantages on good chances ( not to mention that it prevents manipulations - not including the multiaccounts problem of course )

Inappropriate?I'd like to see the total amount invested in a question somewhere other than in the "Most Active" sorted lists of questions (in the information on the question list would be best). Even on the "Most Active" pages the volume isn't that useful because if you don't have the time parameter set right it displays a zero.
I like suggestions posed in Tom's question and Golwar's idea about a %age calculator too.
I think the leaderboard should be expanded, as I've noted elsewhere on this site.
I'd like a way to check how my buddies are doing without having to ask them.
Alerts and automated predictions/cash-ins would also be nice.
I’m glad you're asking

Inappropriate?I love the idea of the calculator. I would love to see what percentage my wager is going through at before I make it.
I don't like the idea of the percentage changes going on. Seems the fun of a question was finding a question that had maybe 30-40% and then wagering on it, and cashing out when it got to 50-60%,
I think the idea was to prevent so many questions from being in the 90% range and not getting alot of wagers on them. I like knowing exactly where all the money is, show me the amount of wagers on each option, that would be intersting.

Inappropriate?Id love a live chat room. Somewhere where users and admins could go and chat in realtime.

Inappropriate? That's exactly what I miss too ... right now as Aberdeen leads 2-1 against Bayern. I made 2 little bets on Aberdeen and a draw, so I'd cheer with the Scots ;)

Inappropriate?I have an idea, posted elsewhere on this forum, that is not so much a My Hubdub improvement as a general Hubdub enhancement. I think it would really enhance Hubdub to have some pages devoted to how the Hubdub community is doing predicting the news. How well does the community do predicting the news? Inquiring minds want to know!
I’m pretending I'm an inquiring mind 8^)

Inappropriate?I don't think that the dollar amount listed with the question in Most Active, or found in the question-maker's personal page, is actually the amount of money currently staked on the question. (It might be, but only in certain circumstances.) It's the amount of activity, which means the bets made (but ignoring cash-ins) or even the betting plus the cash-ins.
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the suggestions everyone, all noted. My question was more about the actual My Hubdub itself, or do we think those three features would ease the management of your 'portfolio' enough?
-
Inappropriate?I think the points 1+3 have high priority, if those are solved we'll surely find more to be "repaired" ;)
All other iminent ideas and requests have been mentioned elswhere. Like the alarm level box for flagged questions, the raise of power users, the possibility for users to suggest alternative settlement dates & tags and their (semi)automatic acceptance, the calculator here ... -
Inappropriate?1,2 and 3 would be great.
For 2, the extra info, it would be better as a link, rather than on the page itself.
Maybe some totals would be informative - win/loss/net on all cash-ins and settleds.
Could there be a separate holder for open questions that are suspended. Maybe also, if there was a checkbox on the question pages and the Home lists, a Questions You're Watching List on questions that you want to wager on later.
For the archiving, I guess it will be a mechanism in the settled/cashed-in/void pages using check boxes and an update button. If so, it woud be useful to have All/None global selectors, like in email sites, that fill in (or clear) the checkboxes. Also, I guess we need a link to get to the archive itself. Will it be sortable/searchable too?
Speaking of which, would a search function be useful? I currently use the Firefox search function, and assume all the other major browsers have some such thing.
It might be useful to have an option to flag results that you want to question (questions you believe were settled incorrectly).
I’m excited

Inappropriate?I am going to start by saying that the new percentage movements in the market seem to be slowing down the amount of money that can be made. Having a large cash position, it is very touch to wager and get any good odds on questions, unless they are sports book questions (which aren't news stories). I think we are going to see smaller movements in the leaderboards unless someone makes huge wagers on long shots trying to win them all. I had $50k in cash at one point today and would need to wager $1000 on 50 different topics, and usually by the time I wager a 1000 on a market it moves the percentages to where I might make 300 dollars. I do this with 50 bets and I can make 15k. That is going to take alot of great wagering in order to slowly make up for those who have much higher bank accounts.
I am proposing offering my services to HUBDUB, I think the fun in this site now is seeing if I can help make it better. Keeping the questions relevant, easy to settled, not duplicate, and fairer to wager on. I don't want power to settle questions (leave that to category editors) just power to suspend questions whose events have been determined, and power to void questions that are obviously no good HUBDUB questions. Please use me any way you need to I am open to making my account completely transparent for others to see my open and closed positions, settled questions, and cashed in postions.
Let me know. I have the time to spend on the computer, I live on the East Coast of Florida when most events are occuring.
Destry
I’m willing to help

Inappropriate?I really like the new pull-down menu option for comments ...
I'd like to be able to use the browser refresh on all of the pull-down options to have the most recent selections available.
As it is, one has to do a convoluted click-on-something-else-then-click-back-to-what-you-want in order to accomplish a refresh. -
Inappropriate?Refresh is working for me.
I also appreciate the new comments overview, but I'd prefer if we get additional lists for comments with higher priority for each single user.
So I'd like to see if someone posted on my questions or if answers followed on my comments ... or if generally something happens in threads where I was active, -
Inappropriate?Maybe the refresh is a browser issue. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.12, with Vista (but you guys know that, right? ;-)
-
Inappropriate?Nice that you guys realized the calculator ... partly :)
But furthermore I'd not only want that it calculates the percentage development according to the invested money, I'd prefer the reverse procedure. And there are 2 options:
1) Push money in till the total package hits a certain average percentage price.
2) Push money in till "the next dollar" hits the given limit.
I'd prefer method 2.
Plus, I think someone else mentioned that already, all bets should be summarized and be resellable $ for $, not just within the size you previously bought them. -
Inappropriate?Duh! I still haven't found the calculator!
I’m not seeing what is likely right in front of me!
-
Inappropriate?as you type in your own wager value it'll show what the percentage will get changed to and the total value if your wager pays off
