How do we deal with markets with "highly" subjective language?
Recently some markets (especially in the political arena) have been found using pretty blatant subjective language. Here's and example:
http://www.hubdub.com/e/Market/Will_t...
The above market had stated "Will the Traitor Carter meet with Hamas officials in Syria by the end of April 2008?" I edited the market to say "Will Jimmy Carter meet with Hamas officials, in Syria, by the end of April, 2008?"
This was done to remove the contentious and subjective language in the market. "Traitor Carter" is subjective and its inclusion would only lead to unnecessary arguments between differing view points on the man, but not actually related to the market question.
So the rule amendment would be: "All questions must use objective language." So a market such as the "Traitor Carter" one would be formally disallowed because of it's subjective language.
How do people feel about this rule change? This is certainly a rule amendment we should discuss to work out all the kinks before we incorporate it into the rule book

Inappropriate?I think objective might be rather difficult to define. I think avoiding contentious language would be better. I think offhand use of the word 'traitor' to describe Jimmy Carter is extremely contentious, and probably dangerously close to libel, so I would feel quite comfortable removing it.
In any case it adds unecessarily to the length of the question, and incorrectly capitalizes the leading 't' in 'Traitor', so is just begging for an editing.

Inappropriate?I don't think we need a rule for this. This is common sense, the editors should be allowed to edit anything they find offensive.

Inappropriate?I disagree with chris, that identifying Jimmy Carter as a traitor to the US for being the first (former or current) president of the US to publicly agree to meet with the head of a known terrorist organization might be considered libel.
It's bad enough that we have Congressional "leaders" meeting with Assad, but a meeting with a former US president (who makes the legacy of GW Bush look stellar) conveys legitimacy to a bunch of Islamist thugs. Carter should have just remained a successful (due to US crop subsidies) peanut farmer ... the world would be a better place!
I’m unhappy being reminded of the "Carter Years" ... in case you think the current economic situation is a recession!

Inappropriate?Since this isn't an opinion prediction site but a news prediction site I think it's perfectly acceptable for the editors to remove libelous or offensive language. I agree with Destry.

Inappropriate?Individual idiots can share their obnoxious opinions in the comments section, so they have a vehicle for their venom without it spilling into the public site. ..... Have I attacked enough to get edited? I think I should be, and that is my point- keep the questions clean and the comments will speak for themselves. (Just weaving words to make a point! I say PLEASE edit the questions!!!)... and my words, if you need-teeheeteehee
I’m silly
