How to flag faulty settlements? ...Kosovo, for example
Hey, I am pretty darn new, but have enjoyed hubdub so far. This morning, however, I see an issue. The settlement of "Will U.S. recognize Kosovo as an independant nation by Feb. 19?" as "Yes" is just flat inaccurate. An initial news report had Rice saying yes to diplomatic relations, but Pres. Bush is clearly quoted in nat'l media articles as withholding formal recognition. I don't see anything on Hubdub about how to change blatantly (IMHO...!) inaccurate settlements.

Inappropriate?Hi tstockma,
Well, you've found the escalation process. This is it! This question was a tricky one. What does everyone else think (please state if you had a postion on the question)? -
Inappropriate?I believe the Bush quotes came out before the Rice statement. I had been receiving settlement emails from users when Bush "recognized" Kosovo, but withheld settlement until Rice came out with her statement which was after Bush's in Africa. Can you provide an article stating that what Rice said wasn't accurate?
Cheers,

Inappropriate?Every source I have read explicitly states that the US has recognized independence and is in the process of setting up diplomatic representation. Serbia have in fact severed ties with the US as a result of it.
In terms of the way to complain generally about a settlement you regard as incorrect, you should simply click the 'flag for review' link on the question page and make a note of your objection there.

Inappropriate? Here is the link to a CNN article that has Rice recognizing Kosovo:

Inappropriate? Thanks, all. Here is the link a a CNN article that has Bush not recognizing Kosovo: http://cnnwire.blogs.cnn.com/2008/02/...
...and, what do we do when there are conflicting news reports? Do we apply common sense to outcomes? For instance, in 1948 the Chicago Tribune might be regarded as a "major mainstream news source", and beat the competition to the punch with their famous "Dewey Defeats Truman" headline.
In this case, while the US is clearly in favor of Kosovo's bid for independence, formal recognition is clearly withheld, and my prediction is based on, actual real formal recognition, not support for. -
Inappropriate?Yes, but they have recognized Kosovo as a independent nation, without formal recognition.

Inappropriate? Why bother with the media when you have the direct source ? ;)

Wiki is often a good place to find those sources, in this case I found it here:

Btw. I'm opposed to this development and the part the USA played in it. They guranteed the people of Kosovo their support for an independent state long ago. It's no surprise that every debate about the status of the Kosovo had to fail under those circumstances. Just another example how you should not act on the diplomatic level ... once more. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for that article golwar, I'll add that in the comments section of the market in question.
