Individual stock questions
There were two questions on indiviual stocks this week. I played a third one today only to find out it was voided 15 minutes after the market closed.
http://www.hubdub.com/e/Market/Will_F...
The reason for the question being voided was as follows
Voided in accordance with rules 2.3.4, questions about individual stocks
Where/what exactly is this rule? The link on the main page today doesn't have this. What gives?

Inappropriate? We just introduced the rule last night although we did a consultation here on Get Satisfaction over the past week. The new rules are here:
http://www.hubdub.com/public/goodques...
There are really two reasons why we banned stock questions. Number one is that share price movements generally aren't news worthy. Share price movement questions are essentially in-running predictions. If we were to allow them there would be too much opportunity to make risk free profits on quiet share price questions.
As noted on the rules page all rules are open for discussion and amendment if there is a consensus that they should be changed. -
Inappropriate? If the rule was introduced "last night", then the question was valid and should have been settled instead of voided 15 minutes after the market closed.
Also, the link you posted makes no mention of the alleged rule change.
I’m aggravated

Inappropriate?Hi Beezler,
It is item 2.3.4: Questions can be made about the major indexes (Dow Jones Industrial Average, NASDAQ Composite Index, FTSE 100 and DAX) but should not be made about the performance of individual stocks
You are right, we shouldn't have voided your question. That was our mistake. The intention was to let open stock questions run their course but we accidentially voided it. -
Inappropriate? So does that mean the question will be settled as intended?
-
Inappropriate? Can you also post the full rules link? I can't seem to find it.Thanks.
-
Inappropriate? There's a link in both the home page of HubDub, and at the left of your open questions list in My HubDub. In the Noticeboard box.
-
Inappropriate?I would have but unfortunately we don't yet have the ability to unvoid a question. We haven't had to do it before. I have put it on the product pipeline.
The rules are here:

Inappropriate?Anyone else having trouble reading the rules? Based on the comments above, I'm assuming it isn't just a problem with my browser. I'm seeing this:
2. Rules At Hubdub we don't really like rules, but we thought we needed a few to keep things fair and fun.
...and then it ends. I can't page down any further.
I'm assuming that this why Beezer can't see item 2.3.4 -
Inappropriate? No problem here, using Firefox. So the page is there.

Inappropriate?I think individual stock questions should be allowed, if they are newsworthy, and they suspend a couple of hours before the market closes (or even when the market opens). Yahoo prices, for example, are tied to a current news issue, namely the possible Microsoft take-over. I think the in-running rules should be strict, but the general business question rules (not in-play) could be a little more lenient.

Inappropriate?Smidge is correct. Here is what I get when I click the notice on the main page

Like the rules of any game, they will evolve. We're relying on you, our users, to help fill the gaps so that over time there will be fewer disputes. If you believe these rules should be amended please make your proposal here. You should title your post “Proposed rule change:
That's it. -
Inappropriate?I disagree. Yahoo is covered well enough by questions who and when might buy them. The daily stock development isn't really that interesting or relevant. So perhaps another question at which prize Yahoo will finally be saled should cover every aspects of interest.
-
Inappropriate? It's just an example. But people who follow the market would find Yahoo trading higher than 30 or 32 dollars news, while it would not be general news.
"The daily stock development isn't really that interesting or relevant." To you. You're entitled to your opinion. But so is everyone else. -
Inappropriate?I know that everyone has the right to pick his very own preferences. The huge difference here is that all those stock questions are the big moneymakers at hubdub.
They cause the hyperinflation, they are the reason ( besides bugs and questions with irrational odds ) why there is so much money around so that you wonder where to put it to usage. So stock-inflation influences everyone at hubdub, thatfor I have the right to criticize them as I'd do with any other problem too :)
And I know that I'm right on this topic. You just need to compare the development of the leaderboard on the weekend, where stocks ain't available, and the rest of the week where you have several of those daily but a bit less of the other questions.
When the leaderboard is all about bugs, dumb questions and stocks, it ruins HD. While I'm confident that the first 2 will be handled, it seems that hyperinflation by no-brainers like daily indices gambles is welcome. So sorry, but I'll keep on pushing pressure on this case :)
