Isn't 12 hours a bit long to block question creators from wagering?
While I understand and applaud the locking out of wagering on your own created questions, but isn't 12 hours a tad long?

You are right, it is. However, we are a really small team and we can't keep an eye on the site all the time. We are trying to balance the desire to reduce gaming with giving the user more immediacy.
As we develop more functionality that gives the community better control of what is on the site I will want to reduce that time restriction.
