New Category editors!
Hi everyone,
After a fantastic response to our hiring announcement, we're proud to tell you that we've finally chosen our five new category editors, who take up their roles today. We're really excited to bring these guys on board and think their passion, judgement and extensive knowledge of the site is going to make a great difference to Hubdub.
So, the new category editors are:
Destry (destry) - Politics
Mark (Mrperfkt) - Sports
John (Bayoubear) - Business
Patrick (Infernalmachine) - World
Jenni (Jenniandboys) - Entertainment
A big congratulations to all of them for being selected.
P.S. Ryan will retain General, Tisha will retain Science and Nigel will retain Technology.

Inappropriate?Congratulations to each of these new category editors.
As a news junkie, Hubdub is currently my favorite website and I seriously weighed submitting my application to one of these positions. However, I am stretched pretty thin with having two jobs already. I would not be able to contribute enough effort towards the hard work it takes to be a successful category editor.
Best wishes to all involved.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I expect form the newly recruited small army of rookie admins at least two things:
1.Prompt and swift settlement when due - a longstanding Hubdub issue.
2.Not trying to show their understanding of wit in the settlements - no need of that; what is need is serious, balanced, respectfull and proper attitude to the job they had applied and toward the rest of the users.
And, of course, no need to say that - not to try to extract some dividents from that position as players.
Symptoms of what have been shown from some of the former SU's now turned to A's.
I’m unconcerned
-
Inappropriate?I think those are lofty expectations for what I perceive as
1) a volunteer position.
2) from an indifferent & unconcerned poster (?) -
Inappropriate? Why 'lofty', Chatarra? Just an opinion, very subjective.
"Indifferent & unconcerned" - because my opinion doesn't matter; nothing's changing. I simply tell what are my perceptions, nothing more.
New admins - means to me a more quick reaction on settlement. There were many cases when we waited far too long for settlement. This does not add to the pleasure of the game.
I’m unconcerned, of course :)

Inappropriate?@Orlin,
Lofty was not the best choice of words to use. I wake up at 3:00 AM to take on a job that I really do not like and my mood was rather foul. Now I have worked a 13 hour day, but it was not a hard day, just a long day.
However, I feel your response was a bit too harsh. After all this is a freebie site, where the winnings are not as important as say having an account with a major brokerage firm. I have always lived my life that you are more likely to get satisfaction using sugar instead of vinegar.
As for delayed settlements, I agree that it would be great to have all settlements posted a little quicker, but I also imagine that is easier said than done. Usually when I win a settlement, I am not alone in picking the winning wager, and my pre-settlement earnings on the question have substantially increased, sometimes to the point where the final settlement only adds a fraction of the total winnings.
Plus, I do not feel your opinion or the opinion of anybody else doesn't matter to this discussion. Why would Rob Jones bother to post this announcement with a blog style thread, if he wanted no further communication?

Inappropriate?we still have to wait ages , even if they are wrong .
what i wonder is how many are still active members? -
Inappropriate?Congratulations to all of the new Admins and Super Users, but I wonder if there are getting to be too many?
I can understand the need for a different editor per category, and/or having a given editor monitor more than one of the less used categories.
More admins and super users can be a problem, if they are not "on the same page" when it comes to approving, flagging, voiding, etc. questions, and eventual settlements.
It seems to me at least, there are incidents of admins, etc. making decisions, providing advice, etc. in categories of which they are not responsible. Though this can be a benefit at times, it appears there are conflicting differences. I would think overall, it would be better if editors stick with their own category(ies).
I recognize it can be difficult in some situations to administer a given situation, if things are not clear, but there is still too much inconsistency in the suspension and voiding of questions, etc. Also, when a question is suspended and/or voided, a detailed explanation should be provided for all to see, and not just a simple 3-4 word statement.
As a basic, non-managemnt Hubdub user, all I want to see is fairness, consistency , and as quickly as possible the approval or suspension/voiding of market questions and eventual settlement of those making the cut. I think this will perhaps be more evident, when the amount of commenting has noticeably decreased. Seems there is less comment, when more users are "happy".
Again, congratulations to all of the new admins and super users. Don't get upset over anything I have written above. It is intended to be constructive.
