Re-opening voided questions
In particular, I had two markets that were quite popular and were voided. The first, http://www.hubdub.com/m9590/Will_New_..., was voided by mistake by an admin. (Admins make mistakes, too.) The second, http://www.hubdub.com/m10196/What_wil..., was voided by the "none of the outcomes seem to be impending" rule.
The more people who ask this question, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate? As far as I know, voided questions can't be re-opened. Something to do with the way the code for voids is written. But there is now a feature to copy an old question of yours, and repost it. Since these questions still have time to run, that should work out okay for you.
Here's what you do. Go to your profile and click on "Questions". Scroll down to where your Voided questions are, and click on the question you want to repost. In the top right of the question page there's a button saying "Copy question as new". Click on it, and you will get to the question creation page, with all the previous info filled in. Change what you need to, maybe put a note in the background text that it's a Repost, check that the suspend date and time are as you need them to be, as well as the category and subcategory, and publish it.
One suggestion. The NYC question was fine, but you might want to consider the comments you got on the Dolphin question. Adding an "Other " option might satisfy your critics. Another thing might be to rephrase the second option so that everyone knows that if "any" dolphins are aided, this choice is correct. Also, you should consider when you want the question to be decided by. The last one was voided because nothing had happened by the suspend date. Pick a suspend date long after you think something will happen, so that the same problem doesn't occur.
It's a bit of a pain, but the copy question feature really takes the slog out of reposting a question.
Hope this helps.

How about replacing "Human aid required to return all dolphins to ocean" with "All dolphins return to the ocean with some human aid"

Inappropriate? The current status of the dolphins seems to be that officials have decided to leave them alone (for now). It appears your question was voided because that was the news at the time of suspension. You may want to consider that outcome may still exist when you create your options and/or in relation to your suspend/settlement dates.
Perhaps adding some definition to "what human aid is" may be helpful. For example, does "human aid" include or exclude "boats motoring around trying to 'encourage' them towards the ocean", or is human aid more direct/physical, such as "capturing them, then releasing them in the ocean"?
It would seem that because there are officials currently monitoring them (in boats, etc.) some definition may be necessary. (It may be likely that there will be officials/humans in boats for the duration ...)
As an aside, there was a similar instance of this, last year I think -- somewhere in the Pacific Northwest (I thought it was the Columbia River, but I couldn't find anything) ... (and it may have been a whale, not a dolphin ;-) ... where 'officials' tried something like a "flotilla of boats" ... but, at the end of the day, as I recall, they gave up on that, not wanting to stress it, and just monitored it. Eventually it returned to sea.
Hope this helps -- I appreciate your knowledge of dolphins, and hope you will excuse mine :-| I look forward to your new question! -
Good point -
Inappropriate? This discussion, http://getsatisfaction.com/hubdub/top..., refers to re-opening voided questions, but I did not see any more information on the topic.

Inappropriate?onedave -- I don't know that there is any more information than what Nigel posted in that thread:
"1. We can't yet unvoid questions so unfortunately the alien question is gone (sorry!)"
and
"I literally cannot un-void it. (I can send you a screen shot of a greyed out button if you like!). Ryan may have unsuspended a question but there is no way he could have unvoided a question."
and
"Will I un-void the alien question?
No, I can't. Unfortunately, I can't change that until we put in that functionality. I admit it was a mistake to void it."
I haven't seen any further news or official discussion of adding the functionality to un-void a question. -
Inappropriate?onedave,
I wanted to apologize for contributing to the voiding of your question about the dolphins, and would like to encourage you to recreate it. I recommend adding an Other option in case the dolphins decide they like Jersey and don't go back out to sea.
But if you repost the question without an Other option, I won't flag it again (I reserve the right to comment though 8^).

Inappropriate?I,too, fell victim to overzealous voiding on my question:
http://www.hubdub.com/m9328/MLB__End_...
and despite my protracted efforts was unable to find resolution to my appeal to the voiding authority. I remain convinced the question was improperly voided on a whim and my pleas for supporting reason fell on deaf ears. Frankly, it kind of sucked the wind out my sails for creating new questions.
I’m very disappointed in Hubdub's lack of response.

Inappropriate?@Markov ... I just read your comment in the market thread.
I don't know why you haven't received a reply to your flags or emails.
I'm confident your post here will result in a response -- which in no way suggests that your prior messages via other means shouldn't have been responded to. -
Inappropriate?Hi all,
Thanks to the Supers for being so vigilant about monitoring this site. I have emailed Markov directly; he explained the situation to me and I think we reached some sort of resolution.
We are very concerned when users complain they have not received a response from us, so please use Get Satisfaction or the Contact Us form if you feel your comments have been ignored.
Cheers,
Tisha -
What to use if you feel the GetSat forum and the Contact Us form gets ignored - which was obviously the case here :( -
Inappropriate?Actually it wasn't, Markov was dealing directly with the Category Editor.
If the Get Sat forum and Contact Us forms are getting ignored, we would definitely like to know.
