Result of the vote
Over the past 24 hours we have received votes on the question of what action we should take with regards Satyaki. The votes are now all in and counted.
In total we had 25 verified votes. The final votes were:
Option 1: fine of H$8,300 - 0 votes
Option 2: 50% fine - 7 votes
Option 3: fine down to H$1,000 - 5 votes
Option 4: close account - 13 votes
Therefore option 4 has the majority and Satyaki's account has been deactivated. As previously discussed the procedure on gaming is:
1st instance: Email warning
2nd instance: 50% of net worth fine
3rd instance: Account closure
Note that we have dropped the 2 week question ban as we haven't yet implemented that functionality. If we feel that it is necessary we may implement it later. Secondly, if the instance of gaming is particularly blatant (e.g. multiple linked accounts creating questions at wholly incorrect prices) then we may skip immediately to steps 2 or 3.
My own lesson was that we should have been more on top of this from the start. Over the next couple of weeks we are planning on doing a number of calls with users so we can be more in tune with what you think the major issues are and how we can make the site better. I look forward to speaking to as many of you as possible.

Inappropriate?Well done Hubdub admins, you took an issue that threatened to tear your community apart, and ultimately used it to bind the community together more tightly. And props to the community, as far as I can tell despite some acrimony during the debate, things never turned _really_ nasty.
It wasn't the result I voted for, but it is the result I expected, and as a believer in Democracy all I can ask for is that my vote be counted. I _am_ surprised that only 25 votes were counted. I thought destry and lucidstates would find a way to vote multiple times ... settle down, I'm just teasing 8^)

Inappropriate?Well anaverageamerican it looks like the 13 times I did vote were counted accurately. (Now the question is can you tell that I am teasing).
I am glad that the results were published. I am not shocked by the results. I would wager a guess that if exit polling was released we would see that the 13 votes were by users who were very active in the site, the 7 votes for option 2 were done by users who had less experience being exposed to this user, and the votes for option 3 would be a sampling of all users.
I look forward to the site moving forward. I look forward to new improvements to the website that help the functionality of the game as much as the look of the game.

Inappropriate?Tea and cookie treats for all who worked so hard... I didn't get to vote, as this arm of "our" program isn't the easiest I get to or notice... but I approve the results. This is a wonderful game, altho I remind all of my silly original Satisfaction question about our collective addiction!!!!

Wow, what a stressful weekend! And I am sorry Meandering, but I think we are no longer able to storm the bastions :-( ... And I am sorry for all the strikers who lost large amounts of blood and had to sleep on the cold concrete of the sidewalks, but boys, a job well done :-D
HubDub admins, you guys have done a wonderful, bringing together of this community! I truly feel tight with so many hubdubbers now, totally splendid if you ask me :-D ... This has been a testing and you guys passed with FLYING COLORS and I deeply thank you for publishing the results! That was an added bonus and surprise!

Inappropriate?On the contrary, I think we Hubdubbers made a foolish decision. Option 3 would have been better. Now, he can open a new account AND create questions. Option 3 would have had the same effect 'cept no questions could be created

He lost all he gathered by cheating...
this should be discouraging enough to see that cheating does not pay out. if he comes back he has to start all over again. and if he behaves like a fair player, no one will complain. so it is a chance too, like jers, starting over with a clean record. -

Similarity: If he does come back, either way he is down to $1000.
Difference:He would have had a question ban thing and we woulda been able to keep any eye on him. -
After the ridicule he has recieved I suspect he would have left anyhow. I couldn't bear look at that creepy profile pic anylonger. Closing his account sends a strong statement that cheating will not be tolerated on hubdub. Simply watch cricket questions if you want to see if he is still participating since I think it is the only thing he knows anything about.

I agree Steph. Unfortunately it is exactly what I anticipated and the reason I accepted humiliating myself campaigning. Thankfully the perpetrator did not try and find a handful of people with similar disregard for hubdub to rock the vote.
In the future I hope hubdub admin can make decisions more promptly.
The Spitzer Question is another example of something that got way out of hand because of the reluctance to make a decision. I suspect if the Spitzer Q went to a vote it would have had another majority vote result supporting one option, and it wouldn't have been the outcome that actually did resulted with that Question. -
Inappropriate?I am satisfied. I am proud. I am fine with low voter numbers because those well-known and IDENTIFIABLE Dubbers are a great sample of the best we are. Stef and Nigel, don't worry about any minor aftershocks for I bet they could only come from bit-player boat -rockers anyway!! Can we please move on, enjoy this site and each other's company and ideas, and let go of this miniscule glitch in a great, new way for having fun with the news?! Thank you!!
