Tibetan violence - which source to use, or void?
http://www.hubdub.com/e/Market/By_Mar...
There is an issue with whether we go with the Chinese-backed Tibetan government or the exiled Tibetan Government figures or hope vaguely for some objective independent body being able to gain access to the country.
The options seem to be:
- go with the "official" government figures
- go with the exiled government figures
- hope that the BBC reports a figure that they believe to be accurate, and if they continue to quote conflicting figures, void it on March 20th
- void it now
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this before a decision is made. I'm going to suspend the question for 24 hours, post it to www.getsatisfaction.com/hubdub and try to get a quick decision on this.

Inappropriate?This is a tough one.
There's an old saying, "the first reports from the battlefield are always wrong".
Adding to the difficulty is the delay in getting reports out of Tibet -- even if they were accurate at one point in time, they may be inaccurate by the time the story is filed.
I would stay away from the "official government figures" ... I don't know that there is anyone there -- from the BBC, ITN, or Reuters -- that could file a report.
Maybe craft a different question on the topic? I think if you leave it open (re-open, then void on the 20th, "if") it won't solve the problem at hand -- the comments in the market will likely continue along the same lines.
My cent-cent worth.
(I am not in this market.)
I’m thinking China needs to add a new "game" to the Olympics.

Inappropriate?My opinion:
The Chinese govt isn't going to release high figures, and the tibetan govt isn't going to release low ones. the only solution I can see is let the bbc report. Keep the market open till 20th, if no figures have been released, suspend for 2 or 3 days. If still no figures have been relased, void.
I have H$ on this, a $100 on 3 diff options
I’m amused

Inappropriate?OK, this has been suspended for almost 24 hrs and there is still no consensus on the best way to settle it. (1 void now, 1 leave it to the BBC and then void, 1 it doesn't matter). I'm currently leaning towards re-opening and leaving it until after Thursday to see if any independent figures are released (chances are pretty slim, but you never know). I'll give it another hour or so if anyone else wants to comment.
Thanks
