voiding individual bets when a Q is changed
i think it would be a good idea to add the ability to void individual wagers....i placed 10k on this Q http://www.hubdub.com/e/Market/Will_H... when i went back to the Q to see how&why my wager had decreased by half i found that it was clarified to mean something i did not think it would ever mean(since it does state "with or without new caucuses") and cashed out at a loss of over 6k....when something like this happens, i think you should either void the question or let people get their money back by voiding individually...this is not the first time this has happened & i felt it was something that needs discussed

Inappropriate? This must have been a mistake on our part. We only should be editing questions to clarify them not change the meaning. At times this can be tricky.
I think your suggestion is a very good one. I will pass a note around to the category editors that if a question requires editing, and the editing could be construed to change the meaning then they should void prior predictions and note that in the settlement details tab. -
Inappropriate?sorry, nothing has been edited or anything, didn't mean to imply that, we're just asking for clarification on the comment boards...its just something i've been thinking & noticed in the different boards where time changes the intent behind the question and it seems an individual void would help...or where something's not actually in the question or background (i.e. is windchill a part of temperature readings) and there's a vocal minority of people on a question

Inappropriate?another idea i had was that if there's a debate about a question and the meaning behind it, and clarification is imminent, you could suspend the market until a ruling is made and give people a time limit to cash out...say an email letting us know that a question is being disputed...that way if we knew we could watch the questions and once a posting is made that clarifies the question, any of the wagerers could cash out if the clarification didnt match up with their assumptions of what the question meant...and then all the people who viewed it one way could still get in on the question and the ones who no longer like the interpretation of it can cash out...i had also suggested a chat room or such where users could bounce questions off each other and that would make it easier to determine the intent behind the question as well....you guys do any awesome job and i love the content of the site, it just seems that when arguments happen the current way of dealing with it still seems to leave a lot of acrimony on the losing side....also, one suggestion i made to tom was to have a chatroom or something where a group of people could discuss a question and the correct way to word it-like maybe a poweruser group i keep hearing about....i know i have a couple of good question like about jkrowling suing the independent website for trying to publish a harry potter lexicon and what's going on with that ricin guy-castor beans and ricin in his belongings as well as anarchist literature, but the gov't says he's not a terrorist??, was someone trying to poison him? did he not know what he had?..i know the gov't says no, but who really trusts this gov't anymore?? .the problem i have is writing questions that are clear and still take out as many loopholes as i can and it takes i'd say about 20 minutes each for mine since i'm not real good at conveying my thougts onto paper(hence the reason i gave up on the harry potter and that ricin guy questions)....as the user base increases a review by people who have seen other questions on here could help close those loopholes and also give the admins a better clue as to what is behind the question into what the intent is behind the question because alot of the events unforeseen by one person could be dicovered by another user...it also seems that you team is taking alot of flack because you are the arbiters of the rules and what the intent of the question is so one last suggestion (which i dont really expect to fly) is have people create questions and ban them from voting on their own questions(i know i hardly ever vote on the questions i create)...that way the questioner can settle it completely impartial....and send out automatic questions made by hubdub about the stock markets and sports games and such where anyone could bet on them... and you guys can go back to bidding on any questions as long as it's not one you created yourself...i feel awful sorry about that btw...never really been involved in a beta before and it really did seem that he was getting special treatment, with so many vocal people on the opposing side,,, maybe u should take up another poll, since there are more uses now concerning that?,,,i know i've changed my mind...
I’m confident

Inappropriate?I like the idea of having a forum for discussing how questions should be worded. I guess we would add that to other forum elements. I will add that to the product idea list.
We are planning on introducing user settlement but not question creator settling the question. There are a number of sites that already do that and the results aren't pretty e.g. questions getting months late if at all and questions getting incorrectly settled. User settlement when we introduce it will have to be speedy and accurate.
I’m excited about all the features we want to release
