Nice work on Huffduffer, Jeremy!
Not everything needs to be a social network, and at the moment I can't see a reason to include 'friends' on Huffduffer. Having said that, I'd like to be able to see a list of members, and I'd like to be able to leave a comment about something that someone has Huffduffed.
bye,
Paul

Inappropriate?Yeah, I might add comments soon. But I don't think I'll be adding "friends" without a very good reason.
-
Inappropriate?I don't think "friends" are needed, because you subscibe to a podcast to follow people who's Huffduffs you like.
-
Inappropriate?Exactly. If you like what somebody is huffduffing, you can subscribe to their podcast so there's no need to explictly state "I like what this person is huffduffing."
That said, I'd certainly like to bubble up suggestions like "Based on your huffduffing habits, you might like these people..." but that would have to wait until there's enough data to make it worthwhile.
What I'd really like to do is use the existing relationships you've stated on other sites. So, if you've given a URL and, by spidering the rel="me" links from there, I find your Flickr, Twitter, Last.fm or whatever accounts, then I could theoretically find people that you are friends/contacts with on those services who are also signed up to Huffduffer (if they too have given their URL). The only things stopping me from building this now are time and expertise. But who knows? Once I have a moment to play around, maybe I can cobble it together.
In the meantime, as regards your point about seeing other users, I've added a discrete little paragraph on the home page (under the introductory text) that lists the three newest users and the three most active users. I don't want to clog up the page with too much stuff but I'm hoping that this single line won't be too distracting.

I like the three newest users being listed on the homepage. I would also like to be able to view other users' selections. Probably because I'm nosey. -
Hmmmm. I think insome cases there might be use for a huffduffer I am interested in - but not enough to subscribe to their podcast. I'm not bothered about making contcts or friends but I would like a list of recent posts from huffduffers I follow on thehomepage, in the same style as the recent, popular and recommended lists you propose. -
Inappropriate?Oh and if you could add a commenting engine like disqus that would be ace.
