In Support of Identi.ca and What We Can Do
i'm lovin' identi.ca and tell all to-be-twitters to hold their reigns and go with the better, more open solution. is there anything the public can do to truly take action in the support of identi.ca? we need to get a migration goin if ya know what i mean. was thinking of somehow getting word to developers that some people want identi.ca apps more than twitter...or at least be cross compatible. what can we do?

Inappropriate?for someone like me, a freelancer who eats one meal a day and can barely pay 160 a month on rent, that would make it so supporting the service would hinder myself. I'm more talking street team kinda stuff. just seems a shame that while identi.ca exists, the word is SLOWLY getting out, ya know?

If your code is any good, join the devel team. lots of bugs to fix. IRC, ML, gitorious, Trac. you name it :) -
Inappropriate? What about video advertisements on DailyMotion, YouTube and other popular video sharing sites? Also, is there an image link for Identi.ca like Twitter has? I see that damned "Twitter" link image everywhere I go.
I have a "Follow me on Identi.ca" text link (with the Identi.ca logo as the icon) on my Wordpress blog, StumbleUpon home page and The Nethernet profile, and I have brought up a presence of several communities onto Identi.ca to assist them in spreading their message to the public through microblogging that probably wouldn't be as restrictive as Twitter.
More can be done, though. Hmm... I wonder how well one could integrate Laconica into other projects so that it can be used alongside other software for a more complete social experience. Regardless, the big thing here is advertisement, advertisement and more advertisement. With that and perhaps a (major?) non-microblogging development (e.g. online game with a social networking factor) implementing Laconica and advertising Identi.ca alongside it, I think we would see the rise in popularity we seek.
