Major Problem: Multiple tabs with incorrect/stale data
Major Problem: I'm having multiple tabs in the sidebar with incorrect/stale data which renders WASP useless. I'm using Firefox 3.0.7 (Mac) and have WASP 1.10. The sidebar shows multiple tabs for the same analytics tool, i.e. multiple Omniture tabs, multiple WebTrends tabs, etc ... and the data is sometimes different between them. The client I'm working with paid $500 for the pro package and we don't have a functioning tool right now.
Please help. I've included an image of the sidebar while using WASP on this site.

I'm not able to reproduce the same problem. But when testing, it's always preferable to use a single browser window and not switch between tabs. If you open new windows, the tags from this new window might be showed within the first one.
After restarting your browser and using just one window/tab, please confirm if you still have this issue.

Inappropriate? It's normal to see one tab per tool. Also, if a tool makes multiple calls you will get one tab for each call. Also, it's always best not to switch tabs while working with the sidebar as this can cause mismatch between what is being reported in the sidebar.
Can you point me to the URL you are testing and I'll give it a look.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the quick response. The sceenshot above is what I get in the sidebar for the main page of this support site for WASP

Inappropriate?Ok, that's very strange, I'll do additional tests on Mac and keep you posted.

Inappropriate?Yes, I still have the issue. I've rebooted a number of times to verify. I just noticed I'm getting the error on Windows XP as well after upgrading to Firebug 1.3.3. I think something between Firebug and WASP isn't working...

Inappropriate?Any updates on status?
-
Inappropriate?I also have Firebug 1.3.3 and no issue on Vista and MacOS. Any other addons installed?
Also, if you do Tools/Error console, do you see any lines with "WASP:" showing up?

Inappropriate?Hi Stephen,
First of all thx for this plug in and it is so useful.
I am also getting two tabs, one for the parent and the other for the child window.
You can observe this at the following location:
-Go to : http://www.classmates.com
-click on register today link
-we are getting two tabs
And it not happening in other parent, child windows.
Any fix?
Thanks,
Usha. -

see the change log -
The "Register today" link is an overlay on top of the same page. When this happen, WASP doesn't refresh the sidebar and all tags are shown (both the parent & overlay tags). This is by design. If you don't see the left sidebar being updated when other childs are shown on top of the current window, it's likely those overlays are not tagged!
FYI, in v1.5 the left sidebar will be reviewed so it will be easier to view info from multiple tabs or clear them when you want. -
Thanks for your quick comments Stephane.
When 1.5 will be live or where I can find this info?
Is there any way to remove the parent tagging values from the sidebar and show only the overlay values?
Thank you once again. -
Like many other software developer, the release date for 1.5 is "when it will be good enough" :) But it should be within a few weeks.
In the meantime, I'm sorry, there is no way to clean the sidebar tabs :( -
Inappropriate?Thanks you Stephane.

Inappropriate?Hi Stephen,
I have one more question, if I visit my website without cookie and cache I am getting two tabs one with cookies and one without the cookies
What's the reason technically? -
Some wa vendors will initially generate two calls in order to set up an initial unique visitor cookie and detect if cookies are accepted. I have recently noticed this with SiteCatalyst. You don't have to worry about "double counting" the page view as this is intentionally done by the tool and de-duped at their end. -
Thanks for your comments Stephen. if possible could you please share any WASP technical details as I am going to much depend on this going forward. -

I have started writing a help guide for WASP which will gradually include notes, tips & tricks and best practices for tagging various WA solutions.
