email notification
As I am aware apple will not allow pop-ups while in different screens couldn't you just send a notification letter via e-mail? I know it is possible because on another SMS app that idea is used. That app is a free lite edition so for an app you have to pay for I believe that is almost necessry. I really like your SMS app and don't want to switch so please accomplish this in the next update. Thanks for reading and considering!

The other guys who are doing this you're going through their server, so they have access to your password and your chat traffic. This is less problematic in the case of one company who actually runs the chat network, but the other companies that do this are probably violating the terms of service of those networks by proxying all your traffic.
If we did convince ourselves to take that route, it would be very expensive and we'd have to charge a lot more for the app since we'd have to have considerable server infrastructure to handle the number of customers we have.
Many frustrated device owners have turned to jailbreaking, where apps like backgrounder and insomnia provide the functionality we want that Apple doesn't allow as of yet. We counsel patience over jailbreaking, though, since it has a lot of hazards, technical and legal.
We hope that Apple allows background notifications or Google implements the kind of email notification you're talking about soonish.

Not in a straightforward way. If you log into gmail web interface when you have offline message you haven't yet read, they show up in your inbox. But they don't show up in your inbox other ways (like POP or IMAP). And if you get the offline messages through Infinite SMS, they don't show up in your inbox, only in your full chat logs. In fact, if you log into gmail and have them show up in your inbox, that's where they've been "delivered", and they won't show up in Infinite SMS.
