What Extensions do you want to see in the Joomla! Add Programs Component (Updater)
The Joomla! Updater supports many of the most popular Joomla! extensions, including Community Builder Social Networking, Fireboard Forum, VirtueMart, UddeIM Instant Messenging and many others.
What extensions would you like to see added to the Updater? Please give the name, URL (if possible) and the reasons why you'd like to see it added.
Go ahead and take a moment now to suggest an extension - you may just see it when you hit that magical "Update Available Software" button!

Inappropriate?Great list, thanks! We'll look into each of these. I know that JoomlaXplorer is in the system, we'll probably update to extxplorer when it comes out of beta.
UddeIM is there, too - but the package could be improved.
One thing we need is for people to package / test / "own" various open source packages (we call that being the "package maintainer"). It requires no real programming, but a familiarity with XML files, tar and gzip (similar to zip), and Joomla! packages in general.
As you mention, there are a LOT of packages that need to be updated for / tested with Joomla 1.5 ...
Should someone start a "how to help?" discussion?
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Thanks LifeisChoice for your question!
The updater pulls packages from the Intellispire Network - we have some information on packaging here:
http://www.intellispire.com/web/News/...
Basically there are two types of packages:
* commercial components (anything not under the GPL or a compatible license). These must be submitted by the copyright holder.
* open source (GPL or compatible). These require maintainers to handle the packaging, initial testing, and updates.
All packages have to be tested / approved [to make sure they work with the updater and don't contain any serious bugs or trojans], but in general we allow any appropriately packaged, quality Joomla! 1.5 component that is actively maintained.
To become a package maintainer, contact us on the intellispire.com website (we're still flushing out the packaging, testing and approval procedures).
There are plans for some other extension technology, too, but right now we're focused on getting off the ground.
I’m appreciative

Inappropriate?I used to use JoomlaPack too (great component), but have since installed JoomlaCloner, which is an absolutely amazing piece of software (new version). It does everything JoomlaPack does - just faster and better. Yes, it costs money, but anyone can have a 7-day trial (IP/domain dependant) for free. (TIP: If you need to use it for different domains, just use a different email address for the trial, or if you are using a virtual platform use the same IP for all sites).
I used this to clone a complete site from one domain to another in less than 5 minutes (start to finish). Brilliant, and not one single error in the resulting site. (You can even change the database name/details without having to rewrite the configuration file).
Anyway, more info can be found at

I'm also a fan of ChronoForms, so I'll second that suggestion. I have tried several "forms" components, but this one is by far my favourite (perhaps because of the unlimited design possibilities).
Another excellent component (directory) is SOBI2 from Radek and Sigrid Suski. The potential of this software is tremendous and their support is amazing. I have customized and used this component on several sites.
More info:

Community Builder is of course a must, as is Seyret. The first (and best) video component available for Joomla ...

Well, that's my 2 cents. Hope you find them useful.
Kindest regards,

Inappropriate?I've just added a "suggest extension" widget to the website (on the right hand sidebar, toward the bottom):
http://www.intellispire.com/web/
You can now suggest specific extensions, comment on them, and even track their implementation progress! Let me know how you like the new widget - and whether it is worth keeping.
I’m cool

Inappropriate?I think that adding the following types of extensions would be good.
1. photogallery, (coppermine bridge, Easy Gallery)
2. blog (mojo blog)
3. Calendar (event calendar)
4. Security Images: THE CAPTCHA engine
5.Plugin Googlemaps
6.Letterman Newsletter Component
I will add these to the suggestion widget. BTW...Really like the suggestion widget. It is really easy to use and I like that it tells you the progress of the suggestion. I vote to keep it.
I’m excited
