    How are top 10 Commenters determined? Last reply on July 05, 2008 19:10.

    I would really like to know the formula for determining the top 10 commenters using the widget.

    How does reputation play a role?
    Or is it more of the number of comments?
    If reputation matters, would commenters reputation built from other blogs affect their standing on my top 10?
    Would commenters without an Intense Debate account or Oped ID be included?

    It would be nice to have the actual algorithm. Thanks in advance.

    Adding javascript snippet gets me "Opps! (2)" Last reply on July 05, 2008 17:17.

    I am trying to add the javascript snippet at my site (doesn't use any standard blog system, it is home-made and hadn't any commenting abilities till now).

    When I add it I get an "Opps! (2)" where I put it (below article). Also after I press "Finish" back to the Intense Debate "add javascript snippet" page, it redirects me to "http://intensedebate.com/editacct/0" and displays "Invalid account. Your accountid is invalid.".

    About top commenters widget

    I just installed top commenters widget in my blog http://positivensuccess.blogspot.com/ but that showed my own name as well which I wouldn't like to be so removed after sometime for now but am willing to use in future. This widget also didn't show link to other commenters who commented without using IntenseDebate account i.e. using name and url of their blog. Is there any idea so that those(commenting withot using ID profile) commenters as well and my own name is not there?

    Not all comments imported and those all imported are without name! Last reply on July 05, 2008 09:18.

    I have installed IntenseDebate comment system in my blog http://positivensuccess.blogspot.com/ about two weeks or so before. I imported old comments from Blogger using Beta comment importer but all comments didn't get imported and those imported are without name and link to commentators profile or website. I only can see the default Intensedebate pictue and their comments. I am surprised by this. I think comments are less useful without at least name of the commentator.

    I have read in another thread that one user has reimported comments and there he/she got many duplicate comments. I would have deleted those duplicate comments manuallly but still am not sure whether those that were not imported before will be imported or not and will they be imported with name and profile of the user or not.

    I really like the commenting system and would like to continue in coming days as well. Any help for me. I am really in trouble.

    Why do I get double (repeated) "Comments (0)"? Last reply on July 05, 2008 09:13.

    Wordpress 2.5. In the index, inside the posting loop, the call to comments is showing this: "Comments (0)Comments (0)".

    Check out http://clarionfolk.com for the problem, and then if you click on a post, the single "Comments (0)" is shown. Exactly the same code is called each time, although in different contexts obviously.

    Tumlbr install yields "Invalid accountid" error

    I get "Error: Invalid accountid" when I try to install ID on my tumblr account. It happens after I paste the code for my tumblr theme into the ID add blog wizard for tumblr. I tried also to add the code manually and I get a popup box saying the Account ID is invalid as well and Intense Debate doesn't work.

    One blog showing as two, notifications not emailed

    I have one blog, sparkwash.com. I have one ID account. When I log into my ID account I see my blog listed twice, each with different names. One blog listed has a few old comments on it, the other has many newer ones. I do not get notified when new comments come in to the correct one with the newer comments on it. I also don't get to see a new comments summary on the WP dashboard, but that might be normal...

    Intense Debate won't install on Wordpress blog Last reply on July 04, 2008 10:53.

    I can't install Intense Debate on my wordpress blog. When I click the Install on Blog link, it lets me download the plugin, I install it and activate and then when I click finish, it gives me:

    Your accountid is invalid.

    When I look at the plugin, these are the values at the top:

    define('IDC_URL', 'http://www.intensedebate.com/');
    define('IDC_ACCT', 'dd7aa2--REMOVED--1ca57');
    define('IDC_BLOGID', '0');
    add_option('id_replace_setting', 'no comments');

    My blog is www.firstclown.us (also my open ID)

    Can I edit the comments on my blog? Last reply on June 13, 2008 06:37.

    As a blogger, can I edit commenters' comments, or just approve or delete them?

    I'd want to do that to delete profanity, shorten a URL extending into the margin, fix a link, or delete a voluminous quoting of a previous comment that adds nothing of substance.

    Referrals Last reply on July 04, 2008 08:06.

    I think it might be a good option to have referral capability in IDC. I'd love to see how many people have opened accounts on it because of me and I'm certain it might give a feeling of satisfaction to other IDC advocates as well.

    Some way it could work:
    1. People who comment on your site and use the "claim this comment" option, are automatically referred to the owner of the site.
    2. Have a field during registration to IDC (either for normal user or for people registering their own blogs) that people can put in the alias of the person who referred or convinced them to try IDC.

    People can then track both how many people they have referred and also how many sites have switched to IDC because of them. Thus I could see something like: "10 people joined and 3 sites Intensified because of Db0" in my profile.

    I would also like this function to email me when someone joins IDC because of my referral. I can then go and give them the thumb's up.

    Finally, and this is up to the IDC team, you could eventually have a rewards program for successful referrers, the details of which I'll leave to you. This is not necessary in any way but it always helps to sustain the interest of advocates.

    From my personal opinion (if you care to listen) as a long time advocate of various stuff I like, I always find that it "energises" me to see how many people have listened to me :D

    Badges (AKA That star thingy)

    I see in the IDC blog that employees of ID have a special star on their name tab that displays "Intense Debate Official". I think it would be a good idea to expand on that.

    My initial simple idea would be to have a star next to the names of the current blog admins. For collaborative blogs this would be neat.

    However, I think there are other ways to add more of these somehow. For example they could act as badges where you gain one depending on how you are rated (A Smiley for funny, an exclamation mark for Insightful etc.)
