Allowing WordPress users to submit comments without the need of signing up to IntenseDebate
Hello again.
I have yet another problem. I am currently in the process of changing my commenting system over to IntenseDebate and while it is working better and I am liking it, I have an issue.
Some of my users on my blog don't want to sign up to IntenseDebate just so they are able to comment on my blog. They don't also want to fill in their name etc everytime they post. They want to be able to use their WordPress login and comment as normal.
So, is this possible ?
I have seen that you are able to import comments easily, so it wouldn't be a problem in doing so in terms of what you lot have already programmed, but what I am looking for is to allow my users whom are signed into WordPress to be able to comment using their own username rather then having to sign up to IntenseDebate.
Sadly, if this isn't possible then I will have to change back to another system as while your plugin is very good and I like it, I would rather keep my users happy.

Inappropriate? We don't currently support what you're asking for, but your users shouldn't need to enter their details every time they want to comment (or, for that matter, create an ID account).
If they enter their own name/email/URL then it will be saved in a cookie on their computer so that next time they go to post a comment, their details will be pre-filled to speed up the process.
If they choose to sign up for an account then they can start collecting reputation points, set up a profile, etc.
The way that ID currently works means that we're not able to do what you're asking for because the entire comments section is loaded from ID. We can't verify your WordPress users because they are specific to your WP installation. It's possible that this will change at some point, but it is not currently planned.
Hope that helps a bit,
Beau

Inappropriate?I would encourage your users to use an OpenID login, one user name and password for all OpenID enabled websites, it's an excellent system. There are loads of OpenID providers where your visitors can get and OpenID, I would recommend myVidoop, it uses an picture password logon system.

Actually, I wouldn't recommend myVidoop as your provider: http://theportlander.com/vidoop-closi... (although a different OpenID provider would be good :) ) -
Inappropriate?I know all about OpenID and offer a provider myself but the thing is, that want to use THEIR username and password for when they signed up and not have to use any 3rd party to login and post a comment.
Seeing that this isn't possible, I am sadly can't use the plugin as I would rather want my users to be happy with commenting rather then myself with the comments.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I'm in the same boat. I'm not gonna make my users fill out information twice and I want the all the information to be consistent from wordpress user name to comments to other things that that username is doing on the site. It's a shame. Your plugin looks helpful.
I’m disappointed
