API for retrieving comments?
Is there a way to generically retrieve comments given a URL of the page? We've had a few users contact us (at AideRSS) saying that our system is not picking up their comment counts.. and they happen to be using your services. ;)
Looking at the current implementation, it looks like we can extract the comments via some regular expressions in [1], but of course, that's a poor solution:

Inappropriate? What are interested in exactly? We offer RSS feeds for posts and blogs using our system. Will this suffice? If not please let us know.
Thanks,
Michael -
Inappropriate?Michael, what we need is a programmatic way to reliably retrieve the comments for a given page (XML feed, JSON, YAML, whichever) such that we are not subject to running a regular expression on your code to extract this data (in case you change the formatting, etc.)
The use case is:
- Open blog post, realize that it's using your commenting system
- Query your API with a url of a blog post
- Retrieve the comments in a nice format
Hope that makes sense. -
Inappropriate?Hi Ilya,
My apologies for my delayed response. Please email me at feedback@intensedebate.com when you get a chance.
Thanks,
Michael

Inappropriate?I would also like to see if I could get an RSS feed (or some API) for getting the comments for a particular blog post. I (YackTrack.com) have some users that would like integration with IntenseDebate.

Inappropriate? We currently offer RSS feeds for particular posts. You can access these on the comment sections of blogs with Intense Debate. Hope this answers your question.
Thanks,
Michael

Inappropriate?Michael,
I mean that I would need programmatic access. I looked at one of the feeds for dumblittleman.com and the RSS url is non-obvious from the "discovery" point of view. I would only have a URL that I would use to query your service in some way, and then get comments back in RSS, JSON or some other format? I think my request is almost identical to Ilya's above. -
Inappropriate?Cool. Thanks for clarifying Rob. Could you please email me at support@intensedebate.com and we'll get you all set!
Cheers,
Michael
I’m confident
