Comment is in the ID system, but not on my blog post.
I replied to a comment on my blog but it doesn't show up on the post. However it does show up in my Recent Comments widget as well as the Dashboard.
I have not made any changes to my blog since ID comments last worked. Help, please?

Sorry for the delay everyone. Troubleshooting this issue requires info about your blog, so the easiest way to do this is to email me at support with your URL and we will take care of this. Emailing support@intensedebate.com is also extremely helpful since bugs like this are tracked within our system which is something that we unfortunately cannot do with Get Satisfaction.
I know that some of you have included your URL in your comment here. Still, we request that you email us so that this can get entered in our tracking system properly. This is a major limitation of Get Satisfaction for us and is one of the main reasons why we recommend that you email us for all support related issues rather than use the Get Satisfaction forum.
Thanks,
Michael

Inappropriate?same here.. at Filipinovoices.com
1. We're using the latest version of ID
2. we're using the latest version of wordpress
3. we are syncing comments both ways
4. example post is http://filipinovoices.com/eyes-wide-open
5. Comment is in intensedebate, it is in the recent comments widget, it is also located on the backend of wordpress and has been approved.. but is not showing up in the comment section of the blog post itself..
Thank you
-
Sorry for the delay. I reset your import - please let me know how it goes. -
Inappropriate?Same here. Site is http://joshuawagneronline.com/ I replied to 2 comments on my latest post, only 1 reply is showing up. I've also seen this on other blogs I follow. The comments are in the HTML source for the page, but they do not appear on the page. Any solutions?
I’m confused
-
Josh, I reset your import. That should do the trick. Please let me know how it goes. Thanks for your patience. -
Michael, it didn't seem to work. The second reply is not showing up. The comment shows up still in both Wordpress comments and the ID Dashboard. So, the comment is there, it's just not showing up on the post. Any settings I might have tweaked wrong? -
Inappropriate?Same issue here, I just noticed it actually which makes me think it's something recent and generalized
I had a reply to this comment: http://dbzer0.com/blog/the-three-stru...
It's now not there but I can still see it on my ID dashboard: http://intensedebate.com/commenthisto...
-
I reset your import as well. Please let me know. -
As other said above, this didn't do anything. This hasn't to do anything with importing from wordpress I've seen it happen on blogspot sites as well -
Inappropriate?Miles - we're taking a look at this to see what's going on. Thanks for your patience, we'll get this all figured out.
Kind regards,
Michael
I’m confident
-
So what's the good word, Michael? Nothing's changed on my end. -
Michael, I thought you might like to know.. the problem is still happening!!! Same issue: I reply to a comment but it just does not show up. Can I expect resolution anytime soon? Or am I expected to switch to a new service >_<
The problem post is below:
http://mileposting.blogspot.com/2009/... -
Another problem.. I cannot delete comments from the ID back end! -
Inappropriate?I'm also having this problem. I replied to a comment this morning, and the reply isn't showing up.
http://geekyatheist.com/2009/04/29/De...
Potentially unrelated, but I also didn't get an email about the first comment.
I’m sad
-
Mine eventually showed up, although I'm not sure at what point it became visible. This was the only time I saw the issue, and it's been working great ever since. -
Inappropriate?Same here... I'm trying to reorganize one thread by just putting them back in under the orginal comment where thye go and only 4 comments are showing up on the blog but the counter says 9
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Ok, I got mine to show up. It's a bit of a hack, but hey.
I replied to my phantom comment via the Wordpress backend. Both the phantom reply and my test reply showed up. So then I deleted my test comment via Wordpress. Then the phantom comment appeared as it was supposed to. Don't know if this will help anyone, but it worked for me.
I’m thankful
-
I've seen something similar before, where you can restore an invisible comment also by replying via email. Still a bother though :( -
This reply was removed on 05/03/09.
see the change log -
Inappropriate?Come on guys, this is still happening!
-
It's now happening to my trackbacks too. Everything seems to be in the ID database but the scripts on each page don't access them right or something. I really like ID, but this is a little crazy. -
Inappropriate?sometimes new comments stop showing up, then for a while it works, then again not - mojblogcoine.blogspot.com - please help, the forum is very difficult to use now
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I agree with mvystavil. There seem to be two issues at hand on this forum. I was referred to this thread, but the initial problem is not the one I'm having. My problem is the same as mvystavil. Sometimes comments show up, it works for a while, then they disppear. They reappear, I answer again. This is ridiculous.
I’m getting ready to quit.
-
I've seen both issues on my site and I think they are related. Sometimes the comment is gone for good (or just for very long) and sometimes it appears again. -
Inappropriate?Looks like I've got the same issue happening intermittently on 1WineDude.com .
-
Inappropriate?Hi all,
Thanks for your patience. We're taking a look at what's causing this. If you encounter this again please try resetting the plugin to resync your accounts. You can do this in your plugin settings page in your WordPress admin panel. The option is located at the bottom of the page.
Thanks,
Michael

Michael, any interim suggestions for Blogspot users?
For the record, I am ABLE to receive and post new comments (as far as I know), but I am UNABLE to view any comments threaded as a reply. -
Miles, I apologize for the delay. This should be corrected now.
Thanks for your patience,
Michael -
Hey you're right, you've fixed the comments on one of my posts. I thank you for that.
HOWEVER, I tried posting a new reply-comment and the SAME DARN thing happened: it does NOT show up. Please see:
http://mileposting.blogspot.com/2009/...
Furthermore, this problem still afflicts my most recent blog post: the reply-comments do NOT show up. Please see:
http://mileposting.blogspot.com/2009/...
Can I expect this problem to persist, Michael? Be honest with me; let's not waste each other's time. -
Still keeps happening to me. Not sync related as comment is already both in IDC and Wordpress -
Miles, we're taking a look to see why this persists. I'll have some news shortly. -
Hi Michael,
I reset the plugin as you suggested; however 1. It did not solve the problem - the comment is still missing and 2. Now all the replies are out of sync. i.e. every comment appears as a new comment - where before the reset some comments were replies to others. Is there a way to make the comments as replies the way they were before?
Here is the link to one of the posts: http://www.10e20.com/blog/2009/04/30/... -
Inappropriate?Hi Michael,
Just to clarify, by resyncing my account, you're telling me to re-import all the comments again?
-
Carrie, re-syncing will only import any comments that are not appearing. Comments that have already been imported will not be imported again. -
Inappropriate?Ah, so this solution has nothing to do with my problem. My comments are reappearing, disappearing, and reappearing again. I'm not really sure why admins directed me to this thread as it seems to have nothing to do with the problems I am experiencing.
-
I agree, Carrie. Heck I'd be happier if my comments reappeared even sometimes.
Well I suppose our problems could be considered the same to ID technicians -_- -
I redirected you here but I'm not an admin. As far as I can see, your problem is still similar to what most people are having here. -
Carrie, what's the specific URL? Thanks -
Inappropriate? No. My comments are showing up on blog posts. They are disappearing and reappearing in my dashboard. Once they are posted, they show up in my blog post with weird slash marks instead. Thanks for the direct. I appreciate it, but this is not the problem I am having with ID.
-
Fair enough. Sorry for the confusion -
Inappropriate?I'm not using Wordpress. I'm using Joomla with the RokIntenseDebate plugin and most of the time everything is ok, But, I've had this happen quite a bit and it's a little frustrating. I post a reply to someone's comment and it's there. Then if I log out or look on another computer... it disappears although it still shows up in the ID backend page.
-
You posted this here as well. Is this a different issue? -
Inappropriate?I have this problem too - on Wordpress blog and Movable Type both. Usually it happens with nested comments and posting new comment can help.
-
Gray, can you provide me with specific links to where this occurs? -
http://www.it-thoughts.ru/archives/64
http://www.searchengines.ru/blog/arch...
Resetting the Wordpress plugin on first blog did nothing. Second is on MT and there is no plugin, just javascript snippet. -
Inappropriate? In the interest of focusing our ID technicians' attention on this problem, I've put together a brief compendium of our common woes, observations and frustration reported in this thread:
-Comments that disappear are mostly replies to comments that DO appear
-These disappearing replies DO show up on the post PRIOR to a page refresh, after which it disappears
-Some users report that these comments reappear and disappear intermittently (sometimes afflicted by weird slash marks)
-Replying to a reply that has disappeared, interestingly, compels both replies to show up (at least temporarily)
-When this problem occurs, text is persistently leftover in the comment input box
-Everything looks OK in the ID backend, i.e., all comments (replies or otherwise) are present in the system, as well as in the HTML source of afflicted pages
-Resetting Wordpress sync does NOT solve this problem. After all, Blogspot users are also affected.
-On my blog, an ID technician managed to "fix" one of my problem posts to the point where a disappeared reply now remains visible permanently. However, new replies made to this post do NOT show up, suggesting that the problem was never "fixed" in the first place, only band-aided.
I hope this summary will help rally affected users to this support thread, as well as assist ID technicians with cataloging the knowledge herein and prioritizing this problem. If anyone notices anything missing here, please add to this list.
ID, please let us know of any progress. This is systematic, and the number of affected users continue to grow.
I’m focused.
-
Well written. Well done -
I feel the tech support is very well aware of this, they are just buying time with occasional responses... It seems like a some kind of caching problem -
Miles, thanks a lot - that's very helpful. It is most likely a caching issue. We're taking a look to see what's going on. Thanks again. -
Good summary.
I'd also like to add that the missing comment will frequently be partly visible in the text editing field (partly, as in the first couple of lines). This does suggest that the comment is indeed "there", it's just not displayed correctly (or at all). -
Inappropriate? So now I'm also having much trouble on my new wordpress install. I was finly able to import all my comments which are showing up on my dashboard, but not on the site. Looking at the address for the comments (hovering over their link in the comments tab) some still show my old blogger address (ucgblog.blogspot.com) and some show my new site (cgblog.org). However, none of my imported comments are showing up on my site, only the ones since this morning are showing. This is frustrating.
I've looked around a few other Q & A's on here and did what they say. I have no comments pending moderation and I've reinstalled several times (which I don't want to have to do again). What do I need to do to 1) get all the comments over to this site (cgblog.org) and away from the blogger one, and 2) how do I get them to show? Help!
I’m frustrated!
-
Inappropriate? The problem's still there. Readers have been e-mailing me yesterday and this morning to ask why their comments aren't showing up. I re-synced it and at least the latest few posts still haven't shown up. They appear in the sidebar widget but not in the actual threads. A comment system that won't show comments is pretty ridiculous. Come on, fix this now, please.
http://www.candorville.com
I’m frustrated, steamed
-
Inappropriate?Great. Just great. I told one of the readers to reply again to make his first comment show up. Then it did, so there were duplicate comments (his original, and the one he posted to make the original show up). I deleted the duplicate post. Then I reloaded the page, and the duplicate post was gone. But so was his original post AND the post to which his original was a reply! So by deleting one post, THREE disappeared.
What the heck is going on?
At this point, I think you need to add a "furious" smiley next to the others so your users could select that one.
Here's the thread where that happened:
http://candorville.com/2009/05/08/jus...
I’m confused, furious, frustrated, anxious
-
Disqus is more reliable at this point. Might want to give it a try - http://www.disqus.com -
Inappropriate?"Phototristan" suggested I try Disqus, which may be more reliable at this point. I just might, although I'll probably have dozens of hours of of cleaning up to do first because in this latest re-sync, Intense Debate seems to have screwed my site over big time. It put many of my existing comments in the wrong threads, and created an enormous number of duplicates of those wrongly-placed posts. For example:
http://candorville.com/2008/10/24/sto...
Hopefully that'll all disappear if I deactivate or uninstall Intense Debate, but if not, I've got a lot of work ahead of me. If ID doesn't fix this somehow in the next couple days, I think I'm done. This isn't a disaster, but it's damned inconvenient.
I’m furious
-
Inappropriate? We're looking into this now. I'll have some news shortly.
Thanks for your patience,
Michael
I’m confident
-
Thanks Michael, this is getting very out of hand -
Yay! I'm very pleased that "The company is working on this problem." That tag only took 21 days to inspire -_- Well we're counting on you Michael..... -
Inappropriate?Temporary solution for everyone who gets this problem
Option 1) Reply to an invisible comment through email (as an admin, you most likely get emails about all comments of your site). Once the comment appears, delete your reply only.
Option 2) If you're using the Wordpress plugin, you can reply through the dashboard comment interface to an invisible comment. Once it appears, you can then delete the temp reply.
-
Option 1 kind of works but is unreliable. When I deleted the reply-to-reply comment, both comments disappeared in most cases. Also see the post from poor "candorville" above.. this workaround might have done much to cascade his entire system! (my condolences) -
Inappropriate? It looks like it's particular comments that "eat" their replies. For example this one has swallowed two of my replies to it immediately
-
Gah! Half my replies in this post are invisible now, which is especially annoying because I cannot reply to myself with emails or from Wordpress. -
Inappropriate? There's all this talk about Wordpress on here and syncing and stuff. That's cool for a lot of people but some aren't using Wordpress and the issue still occurs.
I just replied through email when I was approving someone else's comment and my reply didn't show up.
So I copied and pasted it into the reply area directly in the site. Then two showed up. So I deleted one. So I tried again and this time three of the same reply showed up. So I deleted two of them and now the one is finally there.
Funny thing... the original comment that I was replying to says it has 4294967295 replies.
check it out... http://www.danislinus.com/life-mainme...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I have the impression that this is somehow caused by the pagination.
I was just replying to comments where for some reason pagination did not happen and all replies were visible. Then I refreshed the page, and pagination took over. Once that happened, later replies in the first page disappeared.
Is it possible that IDC is somehow mixing up thing and trying to put a later comment in the second page, even though the comment is a reply to a thread of the first page? -
I'm no expert by any means on this stuff but I'm don't think pagination is it. This is happening to me on the first comment and although I can't seem to find the setting in my ID dashboard, I don't think I even have pagination turned on. -
Inappropriate?I am having this problem on blogspt at this post:
http://newstadiuminsider.blogspot.com...
Please help!
I’m ANGRY
-
Inappropriate?www.upi.com is having this problem as well.
-
Inappropriate?Guys, I am seriously reaching the end of my limits. I now practically get this on every post and I'm sick and tired of having to apologize to my commenters who think I'm deleting their comments. I'm sick and tired of not being able to reply normally because half the replies are hidden after a page reload and I can't make them appear again!
We've had this problem now for at least one month and instead of getting better, it's getting worse! Instead of fixing this, we get Gravatars!? I am a a devout supporter to IDC but believe me, even I am starting to have second thoughts now!
I’m severely frustrated.
-
Yeah, I'm about there as well. This is ridiculous. And the company has been fairly silent except for the occasional, we're working on it. I just replied to a comment through email and only 1 out of 3 actually showed up.
It happens more than it doesn't so what's the point in sticking with IDC. I love the "features" like email response and other things but they aren't "features" if they never work. -
@danatchison can you check and see if the comments you've submitted via email are showing up in your comment history? that will be a help to us. thanks. -
Inappropriate?I agree with db0. Your support sucks. I'm uninstalling Intense Debate this evening and will also be writing a post to let people know how shoddy and unreliable your service is.
-
This reply was removed on 05/18/09.
see the change log -
Inappropriate? It seems that this just comes and goes. Some times the page will load with everything, then 10 minutes later, all replies after the second reply will be missing, and then later on appear again.
Is this perhaps a capacity issue on the server? -
To add to this. When this happens, all comments after the first reply to a thread will be hidden. When everything is visible, you still have the occassional replies (can be much deeper this time) that are invisible. -
As far as you know, has this occurred at all in this thread? -
Yes. Quite a bit in fact. Although now most comments seem to appear, random ones are still missing. For example, I have a reply to this comment that is not visible -
Ok, I've tried your fix below and it worked! Now all replies in the thread are visible. -
Inappropriate?Michael... Haven't heard from you in a while. Can we get an update on this? Thx.
I’m completely over it all
-
Inappropriate?Update:
We've been able to identify the portion of code causing the issue. We're working on a fix for it. I'll continue to keep you posted.
Thanks for your patience,
Michael
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?Hi everyone,
We understand the severity of this issue, as well as your frustration. I would like to reassure you that correcting this issue is our highest priority. I apologize if my responses have failed to convey this - that's my error.
So far identifying the problematic code has posed a challenge. But the good news is (as I wrote in my comment above) we have identified the portion of code that is causing the issue. We're currently working on a fix for this and it's unfortunately taking some time. This will be resolved.
Again, our apologies for the hassle and frustration. We appreciate your patience.
Thanks,
Michael -
Inappropriate? On Wordpress, another work around for now, until ID can fix the code up, is to unapprove and then approve the reply comment. It seems to work for me when replying to the reply doesn't. Just FYI, and hope it helps someone.
-
Josh, could you please provide me with links to the specific comments where this worked?
You can do this from the website post page:
* Go to the specific comment on the post page.
* Hover your mouse cursor over the timestamp - ex: 1 week ago. The timestamp is to the left of the usersname and reputation score.
* Right click your mouse when you're hovering over the timestamp.
* Several options will appear. Select the one that is along the lines of "copy link" or "copy link location"
* Paste that in your email (right click, past).
Thanks -
Here's the one that worked:
http://joshuawagneronline.com/2009/05...
http://joshuawagneronline.com/2009/04...
If it helps, this comment was one that I replied to and it appeared after I deleted the reply from the WP comments backend.
http://joshuawagneronline.com/2009/04...
Also, all of my comments, once they appear once, don't seem to disappear again. Just in case this helps. -
Inappropriate?Michael,
I don't know if this helps your analysis, but one of the replies in the following post seems to be ok and shows up consistently. I did not use any of the workaround methods suggested above. The rest of the replies, however, remain invisible.
The single reply that does show up has only the text "placehold" in it, aptly named for its function until you guys resolve this problem..
http://mileposting.blogspot.com/2009/...
I’m hopeful.
-
Thanks Miles. Any instance where we can recreate this helps. -
Inappropriate?An update:
We have pushed an update to test a potential fix for this issue moving forward. The issue is most likely caused by a snippet of code that was causing the comment count to sometimes be off when new comments were added. This would cause the comment to not load correctly.
The fix we've pushed should prevent this from occurring with future comments. Affected threads will also be restored once a new comment is posted in that thread. Once we are certain that this is the appropriate fix, we will push a system wide update that will restore any affected comment.
Please help us test this and let us know if you encounter any more "disappearing" comments.
If you do please provide a permalink to the parent comment. Here's how you can access the parent comment permalink:
* Go to the specific parent comment on the post page that you were replying to.
* Paste that in your comment here.
Thanks for your patience,
Michael
-
Inappropriate?Hey Michael, I'm glad to see you guys were able to hammer something out.
But more importantly, you've succeeded!!! Thus far, all you claim here has proven true. Of course, it remains to be seen whether the resurrected threads will hold up over time. I feel good with my chances.
As Michael says, adding a reply to an affected thread indeed recovers lost comments. Just for the record, Michael's prescription does not mean simply submitting a new comment to the post; you will have to post a new reply to each affected thread, literally.
So far so good for me. I hope it will go as smoothly for my kindred spirits here in this support thread.
I feel bad for the other folks here who get a lot of comments, seeing as how you might want to rebuild your conversation tree by hand. A small price, though, for restoring order proper. Luckily I only had a handful of comments heh.
Michael, as you requested, here are the permalinks to my parent comments which were originally troubled:
http://mileposting.blogspot.com/2009/...
http://mileposting.blogspot.com/2009/...
http://mileposting.blogspot.com/2009/...
Hope these help. I trust three is enough for your case studies? There are more if you need -_-
Thanks man! If things somehow fall apart again, I'll be back here soon enough.
I’m placated ^_^
-
Thanks Miles. I would like to clarify, if this fix does the trick, we will push a system wide update that will go through and update every thread for each post, so it won't be necessary to do that by hand. We want to make sure that we've nailed this before pushing it system wide.
Miles, to clarify, are the permalinks above for threads where comments are still disappearing, or are those threads that have been restored?
Thanks. -
OOOOH ok I get you. In that case, so far so good.
Those permalinks point to threads where comments are ==restored== Nothing has disappeared yet, after about 5-6 refreshes.
Glad my toiling here might spare someone else's! -
Inappropriate?I'm going to add here that the temp fix above has worked for me now at least once.
To clarify, one needs to post a reply not just to the thread (that is, simply under the first comment of the discussion) but directly to the parent comment that is missing replies.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Has this been done as of yet?
"we will push a system wide update that will go through and update every thread for each post, so it won't be necessary to do that by hand." -
Inappropriate?I have a very similar problem. My comments are not showing up. Consequently, I have had to slow down on posting. I look forward to some sort of fix. Is there anything that I can do in the meantime?
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Could someone update us this week regarding the status of any fix? Right now, this is a great deal of trouble and I am trying to decide whether or not to go back to the default wp comment system for now. Would appreciate any news, update, etc. as to a fix.
Thanks.
I’m frustrated
-
Yeah guys come on! You're almost there, just push the final fix you mentioned that will make hidden comments appear without us having to reply to all threads. -
Inappropriate? No, it's not fixed and only waiting on a system wide push to basically fix everything retroactively. I just replied to one of my comments by email and it didn't show up. Not on the site or in the Dashboard.
I also approved another comment by email and it didn't show up. I'm opening another problem thread for that.
-
Inappropriate? This has been pushed. If you're still encountering the issue please leave me a comment below with the following info:
1. The parent comment permalink (see above for instructions on how to get this).
2. Is it occurring with new or old comments?
Thanks -
Inappropriate?I gave up and turned off Intense debate in order to moderate my comments. Then I turned it back on and tried to re-import and it seemed to get stuck in a look. After 6 "your database is backed up " emails I just shut it off for good.
I’m over it
1 person says
this solves the problem
-
Inappropriate?I was about to comment that everything looks OK after checking this monster thread, but then I reloaded the page and all comments except the first reply were gone again.
This is the same topic I was crying bloody murder about before
I’m frustrated
-
Back now again but it seems it's still doing what I reported before -
Inappropriate?Btw, yes there are still hidden comments. For example this one was hidden but I managed to make it appear with a test comment.
All in all, the system seems more stable now (I haven't been noticing the disappearing comments lately - but I've also haven't had any big discussions either) but today's experience does not give me confidence
-
Has this been occurring with new comments or old comments? Please let me know. -
Old comments (Or more precicely, comments before you pushed the fix) -
Thanks. We're looking at it. -
Inappropriate?I have this problem too. One of my users' comments are never imported by ID. They show up in the "Recent Comments" dashboard widget, but they don't get imported into ID.
It seems that the unapprove/approve trick works, but it's a big hassle...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?having a similar problem. I have a comment from myself and it's not showing up on the dashboard. actually it's the comment i replied to that isn't showing up.
-
Inappropriate?I just installed ID and I think I am having this problem. A 3 month old critical bug like this still causing problems for users? I think I might roll my own comment system...
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?I just submitted a problem with posts not showing up.... I think I found the problem and it is because 1) I had posted some comments on my home page and some of the article page (which show the same comments, but ID thinks it's coming from 2 different pages) and 2) I had renamed the title of the article at one point which changes the URL (it uses URL rewriting).
I'm thinking it's actually working ok.
I’m going to keep testing.

Inappropriate?as this thread is active again i will add my two cents to it [i had reported this problem to support before with ID #285842].
a friend of mine did some comments on my blog from his iphone.
i did not get an email from intensedebate about a new comment.
his comments can [not] be found here:
http://www.marchism.org/2009/04/01/856/comment-page-1/#comment-5846
http://www.marchism.org/2009/04/06/872/comment-page-1/#comment-5851
http://www.marchism.org/2009/04/22/899/comment-page-1/#comment-5866
the comments are not shown neither in firefox nor in safari.
now start safari's developer mode and switch to user-agent mobile safari 3.0 iphone - boom, there they are.
as iphone doesn't have javascript - probably there is something wrong with intensedebate in handling comments from browsers without javascript?
I’m confident that you will fix this.
-
well, as you guessed it, iphone doesn't have flash [strike javascript out] - but still the point, that ID handles comments from different browsers differently ... -
Inappropriate?I'm having the same problems. I can see the comments in the admin section as well as my recent comments on the sidebar, but they dont show up on the post. Seems like a big hassle.
-
I have 13 comments on one entry, but ID is only showing 10. I can see all the post in both the ID and WP dashboard. All are approved as well. -
link to the comments?
did you try my above mentioned 'safari developer mode'? -
I've already disabled ID, so you won't be able to see the difference. Wait...
here is the comment history of ID:
http://intensedebate.com/commenthisto...
here is the actual post
http://undressingher.com/384/10-ways-...
this is how the comments were BEFORE I disabled the plugin. So there were 13 there, but only 10 showing up. -
Inappropriate?I am experiencing this issue as well. Link to the post where the issue is appearing: http://offbeatbride.com/2009/08/snipi
Invisible comments include:
* http://offbeatbride.com/2009/08/snipi...
* http://offbeatbride.com/2009/08/snipi...
The comments appear in:
* The Recent Comments widget in my footer
* My IDC dashboard
* My WordPress dashboard
...but not on the post itself.
I assumed it was just a syncing issue, but comments left on other posts since are appearing just fine. In addition, a comment left on this post is appearing just fine.
(PS: I submitted this info to support@intensedebate.com. No response, so posting here as well.)
I’m frustrated that this has happened to so many of us for so long
-
We've dug into this a bit and this seems to be a bit of a different issue than the others.
We keep an internal counter in each comment of how many replies it has. In these cases the counter is "off" and says there are none when there is actually one. So when we go to output the comment section we detect the post as having no comments, and instead output nothing (instead of outputting the comment that we should).
We have put together a script for correcting these, and this should be all set.
Thanks again for your patience,
Michael -
Inappropriate? We have this problem as well, the reply to one of our comments is not showing up. I've reset ID but it didn't help. Here is the permalink: http://www.nexttopmom.com/2009/08/23/...
You can see the comment in ID and you can see that the comment count says "2" but, there is no comment. I'm going to have to turn ID off if this isn't resolved very soon.
I’m frustrated
-
I had to turn off IntenseDebate, i'll maybe give it another shot when this issue gets fixed -
Inappropriate? Many of the subreplies are still missing in my monster thread. It seems that the fix was never pushed through
I’m sad
-
Taking a look at this one. -
Inappropriate? The current issue is that occasionally we are calling the wrong post id when loading the comments, causing the wrong comments to show up on posts. We've identified the data table responsible for the issue, and we are currently rewriting the table to correct the lookup that has been failing. This should correct the issue. If everything goes well this will be completed in the next couple of days.
In the meantime, please email me at support@intensedebate.com with any affected posts and we will fix them immediately. I would like to reassure you that this will be corrected.
Thanks for your patience. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Michael
I’m confident
-
Michael, I've emailed support@intensedebate.com several times and other than an initial confirmation response, haven't heard much back. The missing comments remain missing a week later. -
I've received your emails. We're investigating this now and are working on a fix. Thanks for your patience Ariel. -
Inappropriate? You know what's lame? Disappearing comments! OMG!
50% of my commenters are total lunatics ... every this bug eats a comment ... they are ready to send out a lynch mob for me ... and/or blame me for the Kennedy assassination.
Please fix it soonish ... or I'll have to give up ... and I seriously love ID.
I’m running short on patience
-
Sorry for the delay. Can you please email me links to the specific posts in question? support@intensedebate.com -
I did email support ... but it isn't a question of one post or another. It's an EVERY DAY problem. As I'm sure you well know. -
Inappropriate?Michael, I am having the dame disappearing comments thing happen to me, super lame. I switched over to Discus for a test run and all the comments were there. I don't like Discus and would like to keep using you guys but this totally blows.

Hi Hector. I took a look and everything appears to be in order on that post. Does the issue persist? -
Hey Michael, take a look at this post...

Parent Comment:
http://www.etmusiquepourtous.com/2009...
When the page is loading the comment count reads 10, when the page fully loads it reads 2. I can see the missing comments in my wordpress backend but they don't show up. This is what's happening with most of my post. -
This reply was removed on 10/13/09.
see the change log -
Inappropriate?Was this problem solved?
As I have people posting........then I approve the posts, but it doesn't show up on the site ?

Inappropriate?Whats the piont on having this when it doesn't work.
I will see what happens here, and if nothing- then I will remove it from my site !
-
Inappropriate?Ah!- thats it- no help here at all !!!!- unbelievable !!!!
I am removing this from my site -
Sorry for the delay. Please provide links to specific posts where this is occurring and I'll take a look. -
Inappropriate?Sorry for the delay everyone.
Thanks,
Michael
