Comments appear randomly under the wrong post
Today I updated the theme (fusion from Digital Nature) of my blog feuerhaken.org from 3.0.4 to 3.1.1. After that, I noticed that comments are not displayed under the right post, but below another. They are not gone, but in the wrong place. I don't know if that has to do with the theme update, but that's the only change I recently made. I was using the 2.4.1 version of the ID plugin, but I've deactivated it now, and the comments again appear in the right place, but without ID. When I reactivate the plugin, the problem persists.

Inappropriate?HI, and thanks for reporting this -- can you provide a few example URLs of posts where you're seeing this please? And ideally if you could enable ID, that would allow us to troubleshoot this, but if not then I'll see if we can track down what's going on as well.
-
Hey, sorry, I already deleted my blog from intensedebate.com. I'll give it a try again in the near future, but for now I don't have the time for writing and troubleshooting. -
hello, Beau....are you going to fix this problem? Its quite annoying.... -
Inappropriate?i am having the same problem with my blog running intense debate commenting system. I have not made any theme changes, I'm running blogger.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?ok, forget what I said. I did a reinstall and a new import. No change.
It appears here:
http://feuerhaken.org/2009-08-21/wern...
The comment thats there should be here:
http://feuerhaken.org/2009-08-20/das-...
The commetns here should be elsewhere.
It seems no comment is in the right place.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Just wanted to add that plugin 2.4.2 doesn't change anything here (I know, that was not the intention of the update, but sometimes things happen without obvious reason)...
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I wanted to post here to let you know that we are in fact looking into this and trying to figure out what's causing it, but I don't have a solid answer for you just yet. I'll post here once I have a solution.
-
Thanks for letting me know, but I hope you find something soon, its quite frustrating for me and confusing for my blog visitors... -
earth to Beau..earth to Beau, is anyone working there at IntenseDebate? My blog is in chaos since the comments are appearing randomly under posts they should not be, can you please fix this problem ASAP?! -
Inappropriate?Today I wrote a new post, and people tried to give comments, but the comments again randomly appeared under wrong entries. But this new comments stay under the wrong entry even if I deactivate ID, so that would bring total chaos to my blog and I can't do that, so sorry, I had to deactivate ID.
I’m realy frustrated
-
Inappropriate?@Deep - can you please give me a few links to some examples of comments that you know for sure are on the wrong post?
@quitzlipochtli I'm sorry to hear about the latest strangeness that you're seeing. This just isn't affecting other people, and we haven't been able to pin down exactly why it's affecting you yet. -
The comments used to show up under this post:
http://blog.gogreensolar.com/2009/08/...
Now they magically appear here:
http://blog.gogreensolar.com/2009/08/...
please advise! -
Well, I bypass the problem by not using ID, but thank you anyway. -
Inappropriate?I'm getting the same problem.
The comment on this article is wrong:
http://switzer.com.au/small-business/...
The ID in the URL does not match the ID of the comment. The correct comment is shown in the dashboard, but when you click through to the page the wrong comment is displayed.
Having random incorrect problems appearing on pages is not a good look and our client would like this fixed ASAP.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Just to update our client is very unhappy with this and is threatening to remove Intense Debate entirely unless this problem is resolved soon.
-
hahaha! yeah the problem is rather annoying. -

Inappropriate?@David - it looks like for some reason that post (http://switzer.com.au/small-business/...) is being matched against the wrong post in our system. I see you're using the Generic JS code to load the comments, so I'm looking into what's causing this mismatch with the lead developer who has done more work with the generic embed codes than I have.
@Deep I'm still figuring out exactly what's going on with yours as well and how those comments have managed to move to a different post. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for your reply Beau but the client requested I take Intense Debate of their website, so I've switched them to Disqus.
They were having bad problems with comments appearing in the wrong place, which is not a good look.
-
Hi David, when you exported your comments to Disqus, did the comments show up under the correct post? -

Inappropriate?I'm sorry to hear that David. If they change their mind then please let me know and we'll get this sorted out so that they can use IntenseDebate.
I’m sad to see someone leave
-
Inappropriate? No, the import to Disqus didn't work properly for some reason. Luckily comments haven't been on the site for long so it only took about an hour to reproduce them manually. Lost the correct time of post and any subscription, but hopefully they stay on the right page this time ;)
-
Inappropriate?Just wanted to make clear that deactivating ID doesn't mean I wouldn't want to use it, just that for now it is impossible to use ID without destroying the reputation of my blog. I hope that this error will be found or disappear in a new version, so I can benefit from my own translation :-)
-
Inappropriate?earth to Beau....does anyone care to fix this problem? this is so annoying, every time I post a blog post, random comments from other posts show up on the latest blog post I throw up. please let me know how to fix this!!!
I’m frustrated
-
Sorry Deep, we're still looking for the exact cause. We think it's related to one of the caching layers in our system, but haven't been able to nail down exactly where yet :( -
Inappropriate?I just gave ID another try and after reseting the plugin and doing a new import it looks like its working again, but only for the comments made after I turned ID off a few weeks ago. So maybe ID (on your side) just remembers the wrong order? I tried to click on "clean import" but the only thing that happend was, that the settings page reloaded.
I’m indifferent
-
Inappropriate?@quitzlipochtli I should add a confirmation message onto that, but when you click the "clean import" link, it triggers the import from our end (if you look at the link, it should point to intensedebate.com), and then redirects you back to your site. "Behind the scenes" it should be doing the import between the 2 systems, but it stays out of your way as much as possible.
-
To bad, I've had hope that there may be some easy solution, as the new comments appear in the right place. -
Inappropriate?Just an update, in case anybody is looking into this. I have a new theme and a new host and, als always, the latest version of WordPress and all my plugins. And the problem persists.
I’m not surprised
-
The problem is ID does not care to fix the problem, heh. -
well, it looks like they couldn't find it, so i guessed it may help to know, that it's not a problem with the hosting service or the WP version -
well, the version 2.5 of the wordpress plugin also brings no change...
