Comments displaying twice

Hi guys, when trying to fix the problem with my comment link on my index page not displaying yesterday, I installed the widget version with blogger, but still had the layout version installed. The widget version displays the link on my index page, but layout version doesn't. I want to uninstall the layout version so the comments don't appear twice, but keep getting an error when trying to prevew my blogger template after copying and pasting the code ID uses. Any suggestions?
