Comments from friendfeed are showing up in our site feed
If you choose to subscribe to our site wide comments' rss feed (via email), you sometimes get up comments from completely different places (usually friendfeed). This is on a seperate email which does not have an intensedebate account, and its only job is to aggregate comments from our site, so it's not known to anyone except me and it has never been used for anything else.

Inappropriate?Peter, have you implemented our FriendFeed integration for your site where comments made in FriendFeed in the context of your blog are pulled into the comment section on your blog? If you have implemented this feature then these are considered comments on your blog and are aggregated into the email feeds.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Michael

No, I haven't (that I'm aware of) I have never used FriendFeed and hardly know what it is. -
Peter, I apologize for the delay. Can you direct me to a specific example of this? I'd like to check it out and get a better idea of what the issue is. Thanks for your patience. -
I'm sorry, but currently email subscriptions isn't working either, http://getsatisfaction.com/intensedeb..., so until that is fixed, I can't provide an example. -
Inappropriate?I was actually able to recover one of the deleted emails we got. I have absolutely no clue why this would end up in our site's aggregation of comments. Our site is www.budstikka.no (any other info needed? :

This email was sent by IntenseDebate, the world's premier commenting system. Unsubscribe
This was received via email subscription to site's comments on 29th of January.

That is truly bizarre. Has this continued to occur? We'll take a look and see what's going on here.
Thanks -
Inappropriate?I don't really know. Your system stopped sending out mail to out subscribed email. Well, first we got no emails whatsoever for almost a week, then at the end of the week we were getting like 2k emails a day, all empty, i.e the text was:
"Commented on:
<empty>
Go to comment
Unsubscribe"
Go to comment link didn't work of course.
This wasn't very desirable, so I had to create a workaround.
What I did was to setup a cronjob on a machine which fetched the site wide rss feed (which is working fine, and has no "unknown" entries in it) and sent each entry by email. (rss2email is an excellent tool for this)
In theory the same functionality as subscribing by email directly, but this works and has no unwanted entries.</empty>
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate? If anyone follows your site in their friendfeed and has added it to their profile to aggregate comments from FF then you might start seeing some FF comments pop into IntenseDebate. If you'd like this not to happen going forward let us know.
As for the mystery emails, were these from subscribing to a post? If so, can you let me know a couple of the posts that they were from so that I can try to look into what's going on? -
The comments aren't coming up on our site, they only come to the mail we signed up to follow the comments feed. We do not want friendfeed in the comments feed whatsoever. And they come from subscribing to the all posts feed, not from subscribing to a single post.
I can also add that the problem was so big that I had to create my own workaround based on fetching the RSS (which is not "contaminated"), parsing that, and sending each post from the feed as a separate mail.
