How can I claim ownership of older (pre-ID) comments?
How can I claim ownership of the comments I made on my Wordpress blog before I installed Intense Debate? As it is, only my most recent comments are associated with my ID identity, even though they were all posted using the same e-mail address and OpenID URL. This means (among other things) that votes on them don't contribute to my overall rating, and I can't go in and fix the HTML tags that IntenseDebate broke (!) when I imported them to the ID system. It seems like ideally, the import system would automatically associate those older comments with my ID, so long as I can successfully verify that I control the IDs they were made with...

Inappropriate?Zane, we are currently working on a claim your comments feature and will have it soon for both you and your commenters. I apologize for the inconvenience.
IntenseDebate supports the following HTML tags:
<a>,<b>,<i>,<u>,<em>,<p>,<blockquote>,<br>,<strong>,<strike>,<img>,
What tags weren't parsed when in your import?
I apologize for the frustration.

Inappropriate? So far I've seen OL, UL, and LI tags that weren't parsed during the import. It's fine not to support them of course, but it seems like they ought to be effectively stripped from the imported comments, since WP and other applications may well allow them to be entered.
There was also some failed parsing of tags ID does claim to support. BR in particular seemed to cause a problem in a few cases, the only example I see at the moment is a BR that came with a trailing slash (as per w3c standard), and which immediately followed a closing link (A) tag.
This in combination with the inability to go back and edit pre-ID posts means I have some ugly dangling HTML cruft in my comments section now, and even if I were able to claim and edit my prior posts, the problems living in other people's posts would still remain. I understand that it's fundamental to the ID paradigm that commenters retain ownership and control over their comments (i.e., unlike a normal blog where the blogger has absolute control and can go in and alter anyone's comment if they want to, the comments are, in effect, only tied to the identity of the commenter.)
Anyway, I'm sure you realize this is a problem, and the software's beta, so how upset can I really be. Hopefully there's a "do-over" option somewhere that'll let me try and clean/parse the mess again when the bugs are worked out.
I’m patient
