ID needs to implement a top frame comment box on external links!
So, wouldn't it be great to have a comment frame above outgoing links on your blog using IntenseDebate? Similar to what Facebook and Reddit use for their off-site links, allowing a person to view the external link and leave a comment or rating in the top frame without having to do a lot of back and forth clicking.
It'd be great if ID could help implement or provide the code for something like this!

Inappropriate? You should be able to do something like this using the generic/JavaScript install. Just put the IntenseDebate JS in the top frame and be sure to set the post_id, post_url, and post_title variables available from the install.
Hope this helps. -
Inappropriate? That seems like it could work, I'll be testing my JS knowledge to try that.
Here's a question...
How the comments display is an option in the settings tab on ID. I want them to display inline after the post on my blog posts, but it'd be nice to have them pop up on this top frame installation. Anyway to override the chosen option in the settings?
-
Inappropriate? Not sure I understand the question...so you want to change the target of the comment links?
We currently have 3 options for comment links. Just link to the permalink like normal (opens in current window), dynamically load the comments inline using javascript (opens w/out page refresh), or open in a new window.
Hope this helps. -
Yes, I recognize that. And I've chosen the first option for my blog.
However, I'd like to utilize the third option with this top frame install thing, and I'm wondering if there is a way to override the setting selection in just those cases, while still allowing the default for the rest of the blog. -
Ah...no not easily. You could problem use some fancy JS to change how the link opens in one or the other, but currently we don't have a nice way to override that. Might be a nice feature to add in the future though. -
Inappropriate? Also, I have wordpress, and so I can't get to the javascript install option.
Any trick to accessing that after I've chosen WP without having to uninstall it? -
Your WP re-install link should be something like:
http://intensedebate.com/update/wordp...
just change it to:
http://intensedebate.com/update/gener...
For the JS code instead. -
Inappropriate? So looking at the javascript, there isn't much I can do to just create a comment form, w/o the previous comments listed above it?
