Immediate deletion response to comment submission

If posting a comment and you get an immediate "This Comment Deleted By The Administrator" when submitting, does this indicate a block placed by the admin of the blog, or a bug? Since there have been a lot of bugs associated with Intense Debate on the blogs I comment on recently (misplaced comments from other blog entries, really strange common words like "passenger" throwing you into automoderation, etc.) , I never know what to suspect and the blog owner is usually way behind on trying to get basic problems fixed such that user questions are way down in the queue. If this response from the system is due to the blog admin blocking the poster, it should be worded differently to let the user know they are blocked.

Thanks for getting in contact and for the feedback. When comments are deleted by the admin it could be for any number of reasons. For instance the comment might contain a keyword that has been blacklisted or the user might have been blacklisted by the site admins.

In the case of comments containing the word "passenger" being deleted, it's likely the site admins have blacklisted the word "ass". The way the keyword blacklist works is that any comment containing a word with the word "ass" in it will be automatically flagged by the keyword list. This is handy for admins so that they don't have to enter in every possible instance of the word "ass" in their keyword list.

This works 99.99% of the time, but every now and then there is an instance where there is a false hit, as is the case with the word "passenger".
So in this case the word "passanger" contains the word "ass" so it automatically triggers the removal of the comment containing that word.

We generally advise admins to be careful with their keyword list to avoid false hits. Where are you encountering this? Also, what's your username? I'll be happy to take a look and see what's going on.

We'll take a look at adding some possible explanations.

    Thanks,
    Michael
