Importing Wordpress Comments times out

Ok as anticipated, I started importing comments into ID, but it timed out after 983 of 11,600 comments in total from over 5,000 posts. I'm running Wordpress 2.6 on Media Temple's Grid Server. This server times out after a certain amount as this has happened in the past with other jobs - like migrating the site from Movable Type to WP.

Is there a way I can import them in batches? There's still another 10k or so comments to import.
