Intense Debate makes Commenting Much Harder
1. My old comments won't import at all; if I install intense debate for all posts, the comments vanish. When I restore my template, they are back. If I install on new posts only, the original comments work
2. My old comments don't show up in the recent comments widget
3. The link to the comments section doesn't do anything -- it just reloads the page
My blog is here: http://thefrankspot.blogspot.com/
The more people who ask this question, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?Oops..let me clarify #1...If I install on new posts only, the original comments link works only on the post that doesn't use intense debate, and the comments reappear. But they still don't show up in the recent comments widget, even after importing
I’m Frustrated

Inappropriate?Frank, although I'm not using Blogspot I've been pushing people to use IDC on it (because I hate the native comment system), however, some other people who have installed it on Blogger have similar problems.
1. The support team around here can probably help you with the importing problem but yes, the comments need to be imported successfully before you will see them with IDC enabled everywhere. The first thing to check however after doing the import procedure is if the comments are in the moderation queue as this is where they usually go.
2. This will only work if the old comments have been successfully imported and approved.
3. This has probably have to do with the anchor your template defined. The Devs should know more.
I’m confident

As always db0, thanks for offering your help. Great advice. -
Inappropriate?I never could get the old comments to migrate, but I recreated them to at least test everything.
The comments link at the top of each posts still does nothing except load the blog entry's permalink. Quite frustrating.
Additionally, I can't seem to select a different comment layout...no matter what I select, it just looks the same...
Can anyone help me?
I’m Frustrated AND Disheartened

Inappropriate?Frank, I'm looking into this. I'd like to clarify what the issues are exactly.
1.) Comment layout:
After checking out your blog, I see to posts both with IntenseDebate working. These posts have a comment link located at the bottom. When these links are selected IntenseDebate drops down.
Which comment layout would you like?
Do you want a comment link located at both the top and bottom of your blog?
2.) Recent comments widget:
I'm not seeing a recent comments widget on your blog. Have you removed it?
3.) Past posts & comments:
In regards to your previous posts and comments, could you please provide me with a link to an example? Currently I'm only seeing two posts on your blog and there appear to be several comments on your first post. How many past posts are there?
4.) Imported comments:
As db0 suggested, have you checked your moderation queue for your imported comments? Imported comments need to be approved before they will be displayed in IntenseDebate.
5.) Web browser:
Which web browser and version are you using?
6.) Blogger version:
Which blogger version are you using? Classic or modern?
Thanks,
Michael

Inappropriate?Hi, Michael.
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I gave up on my original template...it was one called iTheme. I selected a new one and still had to wade through the code to get the performance I was expecting. All is well now.
Thanks for looking into it.
I’m satisfied, but tired of hacking templates

Glad to hear Frank. Cheers
