IntenseDebate + Internet Explorer = Implosion
I love your comments system but it renders my website unreadable when visitors use Internet Explorer - as much as I hate Internet Explorer many of my readers don't. My site is http://deputy-dog.com, it runs on blogspot and I also use the IDebate recent comments widget at the bottom of every page. Below is a screenshot of the message IE users get, which is swiftly followed by an IE error page. If this doesn't get sorted I'll have to ditch IDebate and switch to a different system. Please help.

Inappropriate? Can you ask your visitors to add your domain to their trusted sites?
-
Inappropriate?unfortunately that doesn't solve the problem.
-
Inappropriate?worked it out myself and lost hundreds of comments in the process. cheers for the lack of official help chaps.
I’m disappointed
-
So what was it?
PS: You've only been waiting one day mate, have you seen the number of support calls the IDC team is getting lately? -
Inappropriate?a small part of the intensedebate code was duplicated during installation, causing the page to fail in internet explorer.
i realise i sound like a tit but a day is a long time to have your site inaccessible for a large portion of visitors, plus the fact that i'd contacted ID by email too without reply and also watched other subsequent 'support calls' being acknowledged before mine. even a 'hey, we've seen your problem, just hang on a while' would've helped.
all that said, it's a great commenting system. if it wasn't i wouldn't have been so frustrated. and thanks for your efforts db0. -
Inappropriate?I apologize for the delay. We're taking a look and we will let you know what we find.
Thanks for your patience,
Michael
I’m confident

I think you're a bit late. The guy said he already fixed the problem :) -
Inappropriate?I think this was an issue with that widget. Added defer="defer" should fix it though.
But since apparently you fixed it, if you could tell me more details on what ended up working for you, that'd be great for future reference!
Thanks,
Austin -
Inappropriate?deputydog, what you have done to fix it?? I'm w/ the same problem.
-
Inappropriate?Alex, do you have an IntenseDebate widget on your blog (for example, the top commenters widget).
Thanks!
Austin -
Inappropriate? No. I'll will active the ID righ now on my blog so you can see the problem.
Take a look: alex.frachetta.com -
Inappropriate?Taking a look
-
Inappropriate? It's working for me in IE7, what version of IE are you having the issue in?
Thanks!
Austin -
Inappropriate?By the way, it appears you've deleted your actual IntenseDebate account so the comments aren't showing up currently
-
Inappropriate? That's true, sorry. I've made another sync. Now is correct.
My IE is the 7 too, but to see the crash, you should enter in the posts. -
Inappropriate?I can confirm this. I'm looking into it and will let you know when this is fixed.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Austin -
Inappropriate?I've found the issue. If you add: 'defer="defer"' to this line: '
-
Inappropriate?Where should I put this
defer="defer" ?? -
Inappropriate?GetSatisfaction cut it off, sorry:
On the assumption you're running on the latest version of wordpress, in your admin panel go to plugins->editor->lightview
You should see a textarea with all the lightview stuff... Find (ctrl-f) *js/lightview.js'>* (without asterisks)
replace that with *js/lightview.js' defer='defer'>*(without asterisks)
Let me know how that goes
Austin

Inappropriate? No problem, let us know if you have any other issues.
