New Comments Give Finger To Blog Owner

Comments are not updating in dashboard or on the front page of the blog. what do I do to fix it? Something tells me I've not done something right after uploading the software, but honestly, I just think the comments don't like me and don't want to appear in the dashboard or in the Recent Comment widget on the front page of my blog.

Is there a way to knock some sense into these comments or possibly the software?
