Persistent login problems
It seems there is some problem with the cookie or the persistent login session. For some reason, very very often, I will apparently be logged off from a comment form where I'm trying to respond. When I visit the IDC page however, I will see myself as logged in. If I then, (after visiting the IDC homepage that is) refresh the page I was trying to comment to, I will be logged in again. So it looks like somehow the script cookie is expiring?
This happens everywhere.
This also seems to affect other people. The Barefoot Bum for example seems to be posting without login, even though he can, and I assume it's because of this issue
Another user on the other hand, has problem logging in from the form itself

Inappropriate? Thanks for reporting this. We'll take a look. I'll let you know what we find.
Thanks,
Michael

Inappropriate?Couple of questions:
1.) When do you notice that you're logged out, while you're composing your comment or when you submit your comment?
2.) When this happens, have you performed other actions on the page (voting, submitted other comments, etc.)? Have you been on the page for a while?
Please let me know.
Michael

Inappropriate?1. I notice as soon as the comments form loads, as instead of seeing my avatar and the comment form, I see the whole shebang of login fields
2. Every time I've seen it, it seems to happen randomly. I haven't noticed any pattern to it. -
Inappropriate?Interesting. For #1, does your avatar and account load shortly after or do you need to reload the page or login?
I think we're getting somewhere!

Inappropriate? My problem took a turn for the worst. Now the comment form on blogs will not have me logged in even if I am currently logged in at the IDC homepage.
I tried clearing my cache & cookies but nothing.
I also cannot login from the comment form itself. It just does nothing when I press "LOGIN"
This happens everywhere!
Currently I can only post anonymously.
PS, for your previous question #1. I need to reload the page in order to become logged in, after I login from the IDC homepage
Please look at my current problem
I’m frustrated

Right, big problem solved, lets move on to the small one. Thanks for the prompt help Michael. As always you guys rock :) -
I have the same problem!! What's the solution of this problem?? -
Max, what browser are you using? What URL are you experiencing this on? If you sign into IntenseDebate.com and then proceed to another URL did you encounter this issue? -
Inappropriate?I have problems with both IE 7 and Opera 9.6, while with Chrome there are no problems.
http://www.playitusa.com/articoloideb... (custom cms)
No problems with other URLS -
Max, is that your blog? When are you signed out - after posting a comment, reloading the page, etc.? How long of a period is it? -

-
Yes, it's my site.
I can't sign in at all: when I try, IE or Opera open intensedebate.com instead of making log-in ! :-(
Otherwise, Chrome log in perfectly... -
I'm apologize for the inconvenience. Could you please clarify something for me? Are you able to login at IntenseDebate.com? Also, what blog platform are you using? Thanks for your patience. -
Inappropriate?Yes, I can login at intensedebate.com
I use a custom blog platform, written by me... -
Thanks for the info Max. We're making progress. One more question, if you login at intensedebate.com and then navigate to your blog do you stay logged in? -
Inappropriate? No, when I navigate in my blog I don't stay logged, and if I try to log in from my blog, I'm redirected (??) to http://www.intensedebate.com/
-
Inappropriate?Max, so far I have been unable to recreate this issue. Could you try clearing your cache? If that doesn't do it, please email me your template at support@intensedebate.com
Thanks,

Michael,
My readers and myself keep finding ourselves logged in one minute and logged out seconds later when viewing another thread of comments.
Think this is a Firefox issue with cookies. -
Inappropriate?Hey guys,
My readers are reporting a similar issue today (I noticed it myself as well).
One second I'm logged in, but when I visit another comment thread I find myself logged out.
Not sure whats causing it, but others have reported having this issue today as well.
I’m confused
-
I've started noticing this lately as well. To me it looked as if the login Javascript is either delayed from loading or not loading at all -
We're taking a look. -
Inappropriate? We pushed some significant changes today that should correct this. Please test it out and let us know.
Thanks.

Inappropriate? In reply to the original comment, it appears that Firefox users who disabled the 'Accept third-party cookies' in Options>Privacy will have the exact problem you described.
Because the IntenseDebate comments area loads from their servers, their website is considered third-party and would be unable to store a login cookie if you disabled third-party cookies in your browser. (Although when visiting intensedebate.com directly, you may stay logged in.)
If you are worried about the privacy implications of enabling third-party cookies, consider the AdBlock Plus add-on for Firefox which will effectively prevent advertising companies from storing tracking cookies, whilst allowing IntenseDebate to function correctly.
As a side-note, if it becomes possible to link IntenseDebate accounts with Wordpress blog accounts (such that blog visitors are automatically logged into their IntenseDebate accounts) this issue would probably be avoided.
I’m fine
