Reply functionality drastically broken.
I am an adjunct professor, and I'm using Intense Debate comments as the discussion board in my class. Here is one example of the discussion:
http://class.joshuamcharles.com/2009/...
The problem is that replies have suddenly stopped working. Someone can submit a reply, and everything looks okay, but if the page is refreshed, or someone else visits the page, there are no replies registered.

Inappropriate?Hi Josh,
I don't know if perhaps it was some kind of temporary issue (or perhaps I'm missing what you're seeing as the problem?) but I see replies on some comments on that post right now: http://img.skitch.com/20090914-tfrdrx...
Are you not able to see replies? Or are they working now for you as well? If I'm missing something please let me know so I can check it out. -
Inappropriate?same here - http://drawingdjuro.com/hello-world
We see only one comment - reply that I made is not showing, although we can see it dashboard and even in number of comments above comment form - "Comments (2)"
I’m sad

Inappropriate? It does appear to be working again for me for the most part. There are still a number of comments that have been made that aren't showing up on the website. I received the email notices, but they're no where to be found.
I just tested leaving a reply once again. It apparently submitted the reply correctly, but it disappeared after a page request. My students are really frustrated with this, and now I have to figure out a new way to grade them fairly. Not to mention the fact that the discussion pretty much hasn't happened.
After class today, I think I'm going to have to move on to another service. This is ridiculous. Reply functionality is pretty much a necessity for something that calls itself "intense debate" -
Inappropriate?I was also able to reply :)

Inappropriate?devnet, you posted a comment, not a reply to someone elses. As far as I know, top level comments haven't seen any problems. The issue has only been with replies, and apparently, it's only intermittent. I know that makes diagnosis difficult, if not impossible, but it has been happening.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I switch to DISQUS.com, successfully imported all comments and my reply comments are working!
I’m happy

Inappropriate? As a commenter, I'm used to lots of bugs with Intense Debate. Sometimes comments submitted appear, then shortly thereafter disappear, only to reappear after a screen refresh a shor time later. The blog admins are puzzled as to what causes it, and the comments that mysteriously appear and disappear are in my account history so I know that they're there and have not been moderated or deleted. While great in concept, this SW doesn't appear reliable yet... That's bad when you want to comment/get comments, as it says to the commenters that you don't value their input.

Inappropriate?Obviously this is a very serious issue for us, and is our core business, so it's important that it all works "as advertised" (and more importantly, as expected).
The biggest difficulty we face in debugging problems like this is the lack of consistency with which the problems occur. We have thousands of people who use our system without reporting any problems at all, and then for some reason, a single install will experience all sorts of issues like this. If we can't reproduce the problem though, it makes it almost impossible to track down what is going on.
All I can offer at that we're constantly improving our system and every part of how it operates, smoothing out bugs, adding new features, improving performance etc. Whenever we can isolate bugs, they always take higher priority than new features, because we believe in providing a solid and stable service, rather than just the latest bells, whistles and shiny features.
I hope that you'll stick with us, and if not, that perhaps at some point in the future, you'll give us another try.
All the best,
Beau
