Tweetbacks
Tweetbacks are going to be as important as trackbacks, this Smashing Magazine introduction explains why.
ID already support trackbacks and your Twitter integration is very useful; are you going to introduce tweetbacks as an option?
Much as trackbacks encourage other bloggers to refer to our posts, Tweetbacks will encourage people to tweet about them, helping to spread the word and kick-start the debate.

Inappropriate?Hey,
Any updates on whether or not this will be working. Or can anyone confirm if IntenseDebate conflicts with it? I've had Tweetbacks installed for a while, but they aren't showing up.
I’m curious
-
Comment-related plugins simply won't work with IntenseDebate because it completely replaces your website's commenting system, so, you won't get features such as video commenting, Facebook Connect or tweetbacks until IntenseDebate get around to implementing them.
For all the advantages, this dependence on someone else's speed of execution is the major disadvantage of using any third-party commenting system and, unfortunately, probably because of the disruption of moving their system over to Automattic, IntenseDebate has fallen pretty far behind the competition lately. -
I'm sorry to hear that. Stick with us donnacha. We've got some serious innovations coming shortly... :-) -
Inappropriate?Hi, yeah, I've had issues w/ IntenseDebate and my comments getting sync'd back to my blog. Right now, because they are NOT syncing properly, I'm somewhat stuck w/ IntenseDebate, though I do enjoy many of their features.
As an update, I've now seen several blogs since posting this (thanks to Twitter and IM) that *DO* work with the new TweetSuite plugin AND IntenseDebate.
I’m resolved

Really, you've seen blogs with both?
It would be really useful if you could share a few URLs, thanks. -

Thanks.
I guess that makes sense, his tweetbacks appear before the commenting section, bypassing ID - good to know that it's possible, pity there isn't a way to do the same for the other popular features that ID lacks.
I find it interesting that, in this particular example, the guys has 4 tweetbacks but no trackbacks, suggesting that, as ridiculous as the idea of tweetbacks initially sounds, it is actually a viable way to reflect reactions to a particular post.
If, as people are saying, 2009 is the year that Twitter usage goes mainstream, tweetbacks will be even more important.
Donnacha -
Inappropriate?totally agreed.

Inappropriate?I think that not only Tweetbacks, but also a "FriendFeedbacks" would make sense. What about the other thousands of social networks?!

Alex, we have FF integration! Please check out our post for more info. -
Inappropriate?I don't think you need Friendfeedbacks...
Not sure about you, but the way I use Friendfeed is to aggregate all my other social networks...having a friendfeedback would just repeat whatever was in the tweetback, thus dilluting the stats rather than enhancing it. You'd have to pick one or the other, no? -
The point is not to list your own FF comments but comments made, by others using FF, about your blog post. Exactly like trackbacks from the blogs of others. -
Ah, yes, of course. Sorry. Had a brain freeze there, you are completely right, hehe. -
Inappropriate?Exactly! It would be great if I could track when someone share my posts on Facebook, for example.

Inappropriate?I think the number of tweets shown through the new plugin now does provide enough of this info. As others have explained, I don't think putting actual tweetbacks in the conversation will be helpful and might actually be counter-productive
I’m unconcerned
