Wordpress problem
I've installed the plugin into a blog running v2.8.4. I've tried to configure the plugin but after typing in my username and password it just returns to the same log in page and I don't progress anything. Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks

Inappropriate?Hi there, are either of you using free webhosting by any chance? Or are you hosted somewhere with strict firewall rules that would prevent our server from communicating back to your server?
We've seen some problems where users in these situations can't get the plugin working because our server can't talk back to yours, which is required as part of the import process (and for on-going syncing).
We're working on adding some diagnostics to the plugin so that it can detect when this is happening and let you know so that you're not just presented with an endless loop. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for the reply. No, I am not using 'free" hosting. However, I know that my ISP blocks certain 'protocols' so that may be causing the issue (e.g. I have never been able to get 'Akismet' to work either). Which particular protocol is being used by the ID plug-in? If you can tell me, I can ask my ISP and see if they can 'un-block' it.
I would really like to make this work - thanks again!
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Hi again mudman. Unfortunately the sort of connectivity that IntenseDebate requires is very similar to how Akismet works, so if you can't use Akismet, you probably won't be able to use IntenseDebate.
It only uses HTTP communications, but some web hosts block external servers from making requests in to your server as a security precaution, which will interfere with how this works. We use both GET and POST requests to try to avoid problems where possible (sometimes servers block one or the other), but sometimes the requests get quite large (based on the size of the comments being synced amongst other things), so there are a variety of things which can trigger overly-aggressive security filters to prevent them from getting through.
Hope that helps you to perhaps sort something out with your webhost.
Beau

Inappropriate?yes - you are correct. I just installed the ID plugin on another blog (at a different webhost) and ID works just fine. Thank you for all your help - I guess I have to work with my other webhost to get them to "loosen their filters".
I’m thankful
