Ability to download directly from issuu embed.
Can we please have a link with option to download publication directly on the embedded code for our websites? This would save people from having to go to the full issuu site and download it and for those who want to read the item later.

Inappropriate?Hi Robert. Great idea.
You can actually do this really easy today, if you have a place to host your file, .e.g on your blog or website. Simply add a link to the file inside your publication. The link will be clickable in the Issuu version and people just click it to download.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Yeah, but Issuu already provides a download button when you're viewing it on the site
, but not in the embed (unless it was generated with Smartlook).
So all you should do is enable the download button you get with smartlook to download all the time, even for uploaded files, in the embedded interface.
I’m not satisfied with the previous response

Inappropriate?Hi Jason.
I basically agree that would be a nice feature. At this point I can't say when/if we will have it though.
If you really want to enable download you can create your own button via Issuu Platform http://platform.issuu.com
I’m sorry I couldn't do more right now

Inappropriate?Hi I would like to add my support for Roberts idea This is something I'm anxious to happen soon. I would like to add that if its possible to do in the issuu platform would it really take your fab tech guys that long to add it to the embeded version. sorry not all of us are that good at using things like the issuu platform!
Please add this soon!!!!!
I’m Hopeful

this is one of the best points

Thanks Robin. Well, it doesn't actually have to be that technical. Simply add a link to your PDF file, hosted somewhere on your server. This way people can view the embedding, and then click the download link if they prefer that instead.
I see many publishers and marketers doing both. -
Inappropriate?Martin thanks for the reply. The problem I have is that we only have a limited space available to us on the server where our website is hosted. Not enough to upload our documents too which is why Issuu hosting the documents was a perfect solution, with the added bonus that they are there for the world to see.
I understand that your suggestion is pretty much what the smart look system does.
I'm pretty sure there are lots of people just wondering why issuu doesnt just add the download and email buttons to the embeded widget.
There are 6 people so far who like the idea and probably countless others who havn't found this thread yet who would also like the feature.
I have to add though that on the whole I am really happy with issuu except for this. You really do have a fantastic idea here with issuu.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I agree. A download PDF button would be helpful and more user-friendly than having to create a link within the PDF or swf file. Can you please add this feature to the embed/URL with styling view option? I'm looking forward to upgrading. Thanks,
I’m waiting

Inappropriate?Hi..just wondering if there had been any movement on this..any news would be appreciated.

Inappropriate?I have a PRO account with 47 publications for a national level association who's members represent a $65.7 billion dollar a year industry. We can't simply 'add a link' in these publications - we're web developers and are only responsible for distributing them online.
We moved from another service to Issuu because of the 'white label' PRO account, and since then we have rec'd a flood of user complaints about not being able to download the publications. Users are also complaining about only being able to print one or 2 pages at a time (which wouldn't be an issue if they could download the document).
I've seen a recommendation to add an HTML link, but given the robust interface, adding an external download link is really lame. This also means we are going to have to host them despite paying for an Issuu account. This link wouldn't be visible in full-screen mode either - which is a problem.
Why can't someone just add the button?!?! My client is unhappy...and they can see the download button on the Issuu site - if it's there, then why can't it be integrated into the interface? I can understand this for free accounts (pushing them back to the main site for full functionality), but we're paying - what's the deal?
Also, it was advertised that the PRO account would be white label - but the logo is still there.... since I'm getting the same functionality as a free account - I can't help wondering what we're paying for?
I’m very frustrated.

Inappropriate?Hi Mila.
I can understand your frustration and I'm sorry you are not entirely satisfied with our current Pro offering. The only way you can achieve a download button is using http://issuu.com/smartlook - that is the only embed feature that allows 'anonymous' download.
Downloads in the normal embed are not supported since it would require the user to sign into Issuu which in most cases would be awkward. Once our server technology supports anonymous downloads the button will be enabled.
I'm sorry I couldn't do more at this point, please stay tuned for future announcements. -
Inappropriate?I look forward to seeing these changes (as well as the addition of the share feature in the embed version). If the embed opened with the same functionality as smartlook there would be no issue. Please hurry.. as a PRO user who has requested this a long time ago I am eager and frustrated.

Inappropriate? The problem with http://issuu.com/tritonpubs is many of our readers are in isolated areas all over the world. They have been downloading The Triton pdf overnight then reading it in the morning. We are getting a lot of complaints about not having that service. The server we have now has limited bandwidth so we will have to find a place to host the pdf docs for download which will give us pdf files in two different places. Perhaps you should at least let host PDF files of paying memebers. Having to go into indesign and add links to the documents is more work than I think I can get out of people. That issuu is easy use is a nice feature.
I’m working through hay
