Hi Petr and Jedaz.
We recently launched hyperlink actions, which are special links you insert before uploading. Once converted on Issuu the links will make the viewer do various actions, including linking to a different page.

Links can be added in two ways to Issuu.
1. Simply write the link or email address in the text of your document. Issuu will discover them and make them clickable.
2. Insert your links when creating the document. Highlight text or an image and choose 'Insert link' with the software your are using.
Note: You cannot insert or change links after you have uploaded. Currently we can only support links to external sites, not other pages in the same document
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Hi Coco.
I'm a little unsure what you mean. Please explain a little more?
I’m curious
-
Inappropriate? How far off is this feature for magazine and presentation mode?
-
Any day now. Just doing last tests... -
Inappropriate?Yes. Links are now supported by Issuu! Make sure they are active in the original document and we'll take care of the rest.

Inappropriate?I am looking for a guide how the issuu engine detects and uses links in the uploaded original PDF-document.
And can you provide a working example?
Seemingly a written link as plain text like www.myserver.com doesn't work.
And a written link as text including the protocol prefix like http://www.myserver.com doesn't seem to work either.
At least both doesn't work with my uploaded PDF-file.
But PDF (Adobe Acrobat) itself has several ways to interprete links:
a) links written as plain text (both with and without protocol prefix)
b) embedded links created with the Acrobat link-tool (which can be connected to images and parts of text)
Does the issuu engine only accept links created by method b)?
Or is the link feature just a feature of issuu pro?
Thanks in advance

Inappropriate?I have this issue also. i created a link in my PDF that uses the table of contents text as a hotspot (may not be the exact name for it) that links to the page indicated in the TOC. When I upload it to issuu, the link no longer functions.
Source PDF is available at: http://maxxtorque.com/tmp/test.pdf
The test link is on the first page for page 22
Maybe the PDF version needs to change?
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate? The issuu version for the above listed PDF is at:
http://issuu.com/maxxtorque/docs/test
(the PDF has only the pertinent pages; the issuu version has more but this shld not affect the issue)
The issuu doc is private; hope that issuu rep will have access -

Inappropriate? Thanks, your answer was very helpful.
My desktop publishing program doesn't have a feature to "embedd" links.
However I got it to work by editing the magazine-PDF with Acrobat Pro and manually inserting links with the Acrobat link tool. Unfortunatelly it means to add links where Acrobat already recognizes a written link in the PDF, and therefore its a complete second editing step in the workflow just to create a working issuu-version with links.
Therefore my feature wish to the issuu-developers is, to tweak the link engine in an upcoming version to also support links written as plain text (like the engine of Digiden at www.digital-reader.eu or of Pressmart at www.pressmart.net or just like the Acrobat PDF Reader). This engines are catching written links with a prefix of "www." (e.g www.myserver.com) or with the prefix "http://" if there is no "www." in the address (e.g. http://myserver.com).
And just a hint to other issuu-users:
* with Acrobat into a PDF embedded links to an external sound file (e.g. .mp3) will be simply ignored by the current issuu-version: Although the given link will be recognized (and hilited) the target is empty.
* with Acrobat into a PDF embedded links to an external video file (e.g. .mp4 or .mov) makes the issuu engine to fail rendering the regarding page. The page will be rendered as bitmap.
Thanks again

Inappropriate? Thanks Juergen. This is really helpful. I'm baffled that your desktop publishing software does not have an insert link-tool, but I know that most of them have one. The Acrobat workaround is surely better than no links!
We'll keep improving our links feature, and the current version is very much a first. Support for embedded sound and video is also on our to-do list. At the moment you can however add a sound file to play with your publication (add a link to it while uploading).
Thanks again for all your help!
I’m thankful!

Inappropriate?Martin,
I am investigating Issuu for my organization. I have uploaded a couple of test pdfs and am having some trouble getting the links to work. If you look at the videos uploaded by user alexrobbins, you can see the different attempts and what happened as recorded in the descriptions.
Basically, links added in InDesign never worked. Links added after the fact using Acrobat did work, but only in paper view. Version 1.5 or 1.6 pdfs didn't seem to have any effect except for the extra warning. In every case the link was supposed to be the gfa.org at the bottom right corner of the first page.
The links in this pdf only work in paper view using Firefox, Chrome and IE6 on Windows XP. http://issuu.com/alexrobbins/docs/sen...
When I click links in any view other than paper I only get the zoom. The example you provided behaves the same way. The link only works in paper view.
Thanks for your help! Your service looks very promising!

Inappropriate? An update is on the way for hyperlinks. You should try and upload the document again, say 24 hours from now.
Kim -
Inappropriate?do we need to upload documents again or will the update pick up files that are already uploaded?
-
Inappropriate? There is no need to upload your documents again; links will be enabled for those shortly.

I uploaded a document that has web and e-mail addresses embedded in the ads. Some are links on Issuu, some are not. Is there a trick to making Issuu recognize them as links, such as font choice? http://issuu.com/newsminer/docs/visto... -
Inappropriate? How do I delete links off of an article site?
For example, I wanted to tag the article on my Facebook account.
Instead the article tagged my Facebook inbox as a link to the article. I can't figure out how to delete the link...ugh. -
Hi Amy. Is this a Facebook question of an Issuu question? Links in Issuu documents cannot be removed after upload. -
Inappropriate? When I click on the Statistics page of my article, it says, "Sites Linking to this Publication." At the bottom there are four web addresses, 2 to my Facebook inbox, one to my Facebook Home, and on to my Yahoo email (luckily that one is blocked). So when I click on them it takes me to those places. Is this for everyone to see or get into my private web pages? When I tried it on a work computer...the web addresses were there as well, but blocks Facebook. Thank you for your help....
-
Hi Amy. When you are looking at the statistics for a publication, we can show you where people came from to view your publication. That's all those data shows you: Where people came from when they clicked a link to open your publication. The reason you can't get into Facebook is probably because you don't have access to that particular part. -
Inappropriate?Phew...I feel relieved! Thanks so much for your help!!!!

Inappropriate? We're still trying to get links to activate in pdf's uploaded to issuu.com. Some work, others don't and we haven't been able to find out why some do and some don't, whether it's the full http:// string or just www. Same for e-mails. Some work, some don't.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hyperlinks seem to be a mine field for me too.
All hyperlinks created in InDesign (& PDFed) work when uploaded to Issuu. However, when I edit these links in Acrobat with the links tool Issuu doesn't recognise these changed links and refers back to the original InDesign structure.
I find this odd, as I am actually changing the shape of the hotspot area originally created in InDesign and therefore I'd expect to see the shape of teh hotspot changed.
Any new added links from Acrobat are not available once uploaded on Issuu.
I wonder if this actual issue is down to the fact that I have uploaded the same document with the only the links amended and Issuu engine somehow thinks it is the same document as the other one and doesn't process it correctly.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
I’m baffled
-
I have now cracked at least one problem; In order to ISSUU to index the file correctly I had to change the name and weblink in the upload; Still can't get internal page links to work. I'll try anchors instead -
Inappropriate?Spotted only now that I can't have internal links in the PDF.
How about Index/Content pages...? Pls, add this functionality, as for catalogues, magazines, etc it is crucial function.
Thanks
I’m sorry for myself...
