Can I sell access to private files (Issuu Pro)?
I plan to open an Issuu Pro account, and sell access to my private files (embedded in a closed area on my website). Does this violate the terms or is it ok to do so?

Inappropriate?Yeah i asked this question and apparently its perfectly fine... seems like a huge killer for the other competitors out there ie Realview etc... this does everything you need and it "can be" free.
I’m psyched

Inappropriate?Sure, Espen (thanks Rockethouse!) - go right ahead. It's your content and if you can monetize it using Issuu we're happy to help.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?I hesitate to use lulu.com for having integrated paiement solutions but issuu's beautiful webdesign is more attractive
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Does anybody have a solution for selling magazine through Issuu?

Inappropriate?@Ijuba
1. First of all, you would probably require a Pro account to avoid having related publications appearing in front of your paying costumers.
2. Your uploaded documents should be set to Private. No URLs of these documents should be shared publically. Downloading should also be disabled on all these documents.
3. You would have to set up a website with a special area only accesible to paying costumers (secured by username and password). This is easier than it sounds, and there are many options to do so (all services outside of ISSUU).
4. Do not use iframes to embed the document to your site! This would make the private URL extremely easy to discover, enabling paying costumers to publically share your documents.
5. The documents embedded inside the paying costumers' area should preferably be embedded removing some of the code generated by ISSUU's sharing tool. I always remove the docName variable and change the loadingInfoText to something less specific. I personally prefer to use SWF Object to embed the document to benefit from the Javascript API. If you are not familiar with this technical language, either use the embedding tool and remove the docName variable from the code, or get someone tech savy to help you.
6. It is a good idea to use a personalized theme to disable buttons that you do not wish the user to use and to integrate the publication to your website better. The layout button is one of the buttons you should remove, since a user that chooses Paper View has access to the private URL of the document and could share it outside of your site.
There ARE ways for users to find out the private URL (which would enable them to share it with others), like I pointed out in #6, and an experienced user could find out your embedding code even if you use SWFObject by using a tool like Firebug (this would mean they could add your document to any site). In anycase, any sharing of your documents outside of your paysite would require an experienced user to play around with your code quite a bit.
I really do wish ISSUU would allow the disabling of Paperview (or more specifically: allowing us to disable the option to change view mode when in fullscreen view). I can easily find out the Private URL of ANY document that allows us to view it in full screen.
I’m amused

Please address the issues Prdolmos raises in his post. I don't like disabling full-screen for some of our clients since they require their document-urls staying as hidden as possible, but some don't understand why we can't offer them full screen if they need a completely different feature! -

Inappropriate?I wish Issuu had a proper DRM. Even referrer checking would help.

Inappropriate? Is Issuu planning to implement a proper system for handling access to private files? I don't think that the workaround described above by Prdolmos is enough for publishers who intend to use Issuu for subscribtion based publications.

I agree with you.
You have found a solution to the problem with issuu?
I would like to locate such issuu in Italian and to read a magazine only to paying customers. -
Inappropriate?Agree with Cesare. And it doesn't need to be a fully original solution from Issuu, it can be a workaround with PayPal or something like that. But it is vital that it is a ready alternative on the service (something like: "Set to Private & Activate Payable Download for this file (price: [$ ]").
I believe this is a top priority for publishers (and marketers).
I’m hopeful?
