modifying a pdf already uploaded
HI
I uploaded a pdf file and I realised too late that it didn't have the cover. I don't really want to delete it, as it has a comment and it has been bookmarked by someone. I'd just like to swap the pdf already uploaded with an updated version. Is this possible?
thx

Inappropriate?Any news on this? - it seems to be a pretty basic requirement. I have a client with a pro account and a stack of PDFs which i need to replace on issuu.com (the company address has changed). BUT it's a nightmare if all the embed links have to change! Please can you look into this one, thanks!

Inappropriate?I have the same request. In my case it's not strictly necessary but it sure would be nice.

Inappropriate?Don't know if this will help or not. It depends on how you have embedded it into your site. If you've used the

Inappropriate?I have the same problem. I have the Pro version and would like to update PDFs without having to tell everyone they need to put new links (that would only happen in your dreams).
Looking forward to your solution.

Inappropriate? Is there anyone besides Martin working at Issuu? Has he been laid off or is he still working there?

Inappropriate?A true "update document" feature isn't available as of yet. But we have a feature called "Embed folder", that'll solve the problem for some of you guys. It basically means that you automatically embed the latest document from a folder. So keeping an embedding on your site updated, is as easy as bookmarking/moving the document to a folder.
To get started, go into My Library, select a folder, and press the Embed folder button.

Inappropriate? Thanks, this is (almost) exactly what I, personally, need. I am sure other users actually still need the other thing - namely, the replace-without-breaking-links function. But for my envisioned uses I don't want the old versions to disappear. I just want the newest version to appear first. Now all I have to do is make a folder for every document I have to handle this way.
Even I would still like to have the other option, however. Also, the downside of this folder set-up is that I can't just send someone a link - in an email - that would automatically take them to whatever is the most recent version in a folder. I can only embed it in the Flash-y way.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?(Following up comment I just posted above). But I just noticed David's suggestion, above, that so long as you keep the file name the same, you can make an unbreakable hyperlink. But your embed is then broken (because the embed code depends on the document ID, not the file name). Assuming that works - the same-name, same-hyperlink solution, that is - one overall fix would be to always give each doc its own folder. Then you can always embed the folder (as opposed to the doc). Now if you update the doc inside the folder (making sure to keep the file name) at least the folder embed still works. So you basically have a not-too-arduous system for maintaining an unbreakable embed AND unbreakable link.
Disadvantage: not as many options for folder embeds as doc embeds, it looks like. But I can live with that.
Does that make sense? (I'm going to test it.)

Inappropriate?OK, I ran the test. I have good news and and bad news. The good news. Yes, you can replace a file simply by deleting and uploading another with the same name.
Unfortunately, the folder embed workaround doesn't work for the curious reason that ... ok, this is going to take a bit of explaining.
I have four documents in my published folder. Let's call them 1 2 3 4 (these dummy names correspond to their dates. 1 is the oldest, 4 is the newest, let's say.) I create a new folder that is supposed to house 1 and 4. I want 4 to show in the embed window (because 4 is the new version of 1). This is, in fact, my precise situation. Unfortunately, it doesn't work because the new folder insists that the dating is otherwise than my published folder thinks it is.
That is, when I arrange my published folder by date I get:
4 3 2 1
When I arrange by date in my newly created folder I get:
1 4 2 3
The same four documents, just imported into a new folder. That's all I did. And now the date order is allegedly different. Odd. (Reversed I could understand, maybe. But mixed up like that?)
Then I created another new folder and tried it again. (Reproducibility the soul of science.) Same weird result: 1 4 2 3. Any new folder I create seems to get a bug in its ear about my oldest doc being my newest one, so I can't include it in a new folder, for archival purposes, without have it be the one that showcases in the embed window.
This makes the embed feature for folders not so usable, obviously, if there is a risk the system will mistaken an old doc for new.
At first I thought that maybe it had to do with the order in which you add new docs to the new folder, as opposed to the original date of upload. But no, that's not it. Very peculiar. (Am I missing something?)

Inappropriate? We don't need to discuss around it. We need to have a function that overrides a file. Even Windows 3.1 was able to do this! It can not be that difficult, if so many users need it.
Please add this feature.
