Recently active ideas in I want Sandy tagged with email

Would it be possible to have a couple secondary email addresses? I use 2 "Normal" email addresses and my phone, so I have to pick whether I want to use my work email, or my cell phone.

Is there a practical reason for not doing this?

I would like the ability to add more than one secondary address, so I can talk to Sandy via my personal, business, work, and SMS addresses.

I'd be willing to pay $20/year for this feature.

ikordo.com was a service for scheduling meetings by email. It'd engage in back-and-forth with all the participants and settle on a time.

I tried using it, liked the experience, but lack of Google Calendar integration discouraged me -- the meetings that ikordo would schedule would need to go into my calendar in a convoluted way.

Sandy, on the other hand, is positioned much better to schedule meetings by email. She already does email, and she already stores my appointments. Google Calendar integration remains a problem, but it's an orthogonal problem.

So, wouldn't it be cool to ask Sandy to schedule a meeting with four people and have her deal with the details? I'd use that, and since I often use Sandy to store the appointment anyway, it'd really be great, taking my mind off the trivialities of scheduling.

It'd be quite a coup if I could just forward Sandy a copy of the confirmation email I get from an airline when booking a flight or flights.

Instead of having to tell Sandy to remember the details of both flights, it'd be pretty incredible if Sandy could make sense of the details and place reminders appropriately. Something like, "Sandy, remember these flights for me and remind me to check in the evening before" (now that's getting greedy, I know!).

Imagine if Sandy was able to figure out the airport codes and know that I'm out of town, or at least know that I'll be at the destination until the return flight. There was another topic (search for 'air flight') about triggering reminders based on event tags; in the post's example, the author wanted Sandy to remember things he could do when next in New York, then trigger those reminders when traveling there. I'd be happy to collect some of the various confirmations and see if there's any consistency to the structure!

Do you have any ideas of how Sandy could integrate with other web services?

This is just an idea, and it's not like it's a top priority, but one thing I love about Sandy is how personal it is. Like one of the testimonials I read, you actually start to forget that it's an automated service. Sandy comes to life!

Just an idea to make this even more personal, some names have nicknames that are just understood, like my name, Jacob, is often referred to as Jake. Johnathon as John or Johnny. Etc. It'd be cool if every now and then in some of the e-mails Sandy sent it'd use a nickname in her greeting.

Like I said, not a priority, and it would probably take a while to implement, but it's just an idea.

I think the Daily Digest is great. I would also be good to get a weekly digest on a monday (or sunday to be configured) so you have a look ahead for what you have on that week? I know you can look at this online but having it in the inbox on a Monday morning would be great (even better I could then forward to my partner)

I used another reminder service that was much more primitive, but it did let me choose where each reminder should go. A work reminder could go to the work address, a family reminder could go to my home address.

I'm not a rabid GTD fan, but I do like the idea of having to-do lists and reminders ready for different contexts. There are things I want to do on my lunch hour at work that I really don't need to see on a list at home. There are times I might want a text message when I'm out on errands, but I don't need it for every message.

I'd even be happy if I could just specify where messages would go, by tag. For instance, an @sms tag could override my usual setting and send a text message just this one time. Everything with a @work tag could be send to my work email and so forth.

What I've done for now is set up two different Sandy accounts, one using my work email and one using my home email. That way I'm not distracted at home by work items and vice versa. I hope having two accounts isn't against the Terms.

I have finally found a way to get my full daily digest to me from my phone and its now read to me!

If you are already using www.jott.com you might know of the new jott my feeds where you can have RSS feeds read to you. Currently i have my daily digest sent to my email every morning. But that does not help me if im not near a pc. so if i could turn my email from sandy into an rss then i could make my daily digest email an rss.

so what you need to do is tell sandy to send a daily digest to your email every day. then create a filter to forward that email to xxxxx@mailbucket.org and have your news reader pick it up at mailbucket.org/xxxxx.xml (where you choose xxxxx, having checked that it's not already in use).

so now your daily digest is made into an rss at mailbucket.org/xxxxx

go to www.jott.com and create a new jott feed. and in the feed url put http://mailbucket.org/xxxxx.xml

I would like to be able to set a rule for how sandy should act on certain forwarded emails. The application I can see is I get emails from my power company saying i have a bill due. If i forward these emails to Sandy, she replies that i didn't tell her what to do. I'd like to be able to tell her, for instance, that if the email contains "From: <NoReply@domain.com>" remind me in 5 days. It won't be perfectly accurate in all situations, but this would allow for some automagic notifications of things that come in via email maybe a little less regular than a bill :)

I saw someone asking about an AIM Bot for Sandy. It made me think about those bots and how you can ask them questions like finding movie times and numbers for theaters, etc. I also know google has a sms text address to ask for locations and numbers to restaurants, bars, etc. What if Sandy did something like this with text or email? I think it'd be great 411 type service.

I am currently using google calendar/gmail as my core calendar and email applications. For off-line use I have synchronized these with Mozilla's Thunderbird w/lightning plug-in. I like Sandy but would like to sync it with these other apps so there is one master calendar, task list, alerts. Sandy would be the app which notifies me and how would often get updates into the system (e.g., "remind me of ..."). As an aside I have Jott synchronized to google calendar which is cool -- it would be nicer to synch Jott to Sandy.

It would be great if we could give some people limited access to our Sandy. Can we register some email address with Sandy so that she will allow them to do a few things?

Several people have requested that they'd like for their wife/girlfriend to be able to put items in their todo list. And others have requested that their significant friends be able to see the status of a particular set of items. (See all items with a certain tag. )

(I know that we already have a list of "friends". (iwantsandy.com/friends) But these friends don't seem to have a lot of abilities at the moment.)

I was just in the community trying to find out why Sandy's email looks different. I made me wonder if there's somewhere I can sign up to get information about updates sent to me by email. I like knowing about the new features but I don't often go to the community section. When I do go to the community, I don't have time to look through a lot of messages so I usually just read what's new and what's popular. I know this means I miss important stuff if I doesn't happen to be in one of those categories. So, my question is, it is possible to get important updates or information about major changes sent to me some other way, like email? Or even a note on my Daily Digest saying "check out new features in the community" or something like that. Thanks.

I think you should be able to select the type of reminder you want for a given time period. For example, I want email reminders during the day when I'm at my desk and have my email open. I want text reminders before 9am and after 6pm and on weekends, because I'm not at a computer.

How about when Sandy sends you an email with an event or reminder, there are check boxes next to each event. Then, at the bottom, you have the "Archive, Forget, Mark Todo, Download" option? This way if you have multiple events in one email, such as a daily digest email, you could quickly go through it and only click once.

Changing Sandy's name is now supported, great!

It would be very helpful, if the content of the communication would change, too. E.g., if Sandy's new name is Jeeves, instead of starting a line with "Sandy, remember..." to address the assistant, it should be "Jeeves, remember...".

Matching the part before the @ in the changed email address would be a quick shot.

Being able to exchange the picture of Sandy/Jeeves/MightyLordOfDoom would be another nice touch.

Just for the record, I have twitter reminders set to off by default. Today I've noticed that when I set @twitter for an event it turns off the email reminder that is set by default. In order to have both email and twitter reminders for this particular event I need to add the @email tag. This is a bit inconvenient. I'd prefer to have email reminders set as always on, no matter what other ways of reminding me I add for the event.

You can make reminders and otherwise interact with Sandy using Quicksilver, meaning you barely need to leave the app you're currently in to add a quick note.

You'll need:
* A Mac.
* Quicksilver. Quick intro: http://docs.blacktree.com/quicksilver... Download: http://blacktree.com/
* The mail plugin
* Sandy in your adress book. Open the .vcard file that came with her introductory mail to add her easily.

When you've got that setup, all you need to do to make a reminder is:
* Press your Quicksilver shortcut (opt-space by default)
* Type ' to get into text input mode instead of search mode
* Type your email as you would normally (e g "Pick up kids at 5 pm")
* Press tab to move into the 'action' field (what to do with the text)
* Type "mail" and browse with the up and down arrows until you get to "Email to... (Send directly). Quicksilver will learn this and make it the default action the next time you type 'mail'.
* Tab to the third field, where you select the recipient
* Type "sandy"
* Press enter, and you're done!
