Does Sandy create a Google Calendar of my submitted stuff that I can access from Google Calendar? For some reason I thought it did... I was thinking about leveraging Sandy by embedding a calendar in a site I run and routing some event listings there. That would allow me to submit events to that calendar via email, which I can't do directly with Google Calendar.
How close is Sandy to having full synchronization with Google Calendar? I know this question has come up in the past, but do we have any sort of timeline on this? This is really the only thing keeping me from utilizing Sandy. I've seen posts from support reps saying that Sandy has "tricks up her sleeve" and that gcal synchronization is currently being tested. How can I get in on this "testing"?
I just signed up and emailed in an appointment for noon. It's been correctly entered at noon at iwantsandy.com but when I added this calendar feed to my Google calendar, it was inserted there at 11am. I'm in the UK (and have this set on iwantsandy.com and Google) and we're currently on Daylight Saving Time. Could this be throwing the times out by an hour, and if so, how would I fix it?
I use Google Calendar for all my appointments and want to keep it that way. I want Sandy for To Do's, reminders, and the daily digest, but I want my appointments in my daily digest. So I have to find some way for Google Calendar to tell Sandy about the appointments. Now you should see the network of listservs and email forwarding I have set up to try to get this to work, unfortunately I have been unsuccessful.
I am very close to getting this to work The set up [tangled web] I have works like this:
1)The gCal notification is sent to my gmail
2)gmail filters those out and forwards to yahoo group
3)yahoo group changes the 'from' tag to .....-owner @ yahoogroups.com
4)the yahoo group sends it to an alumni email forwarding service i have through my university (because yahoo groups said anything @ googlegroups.com isn't a valid email address)
5)Alumni forwarding service forwards it to a google group (so "remind" can be prepended to the subject)
6)the google group sends it to Sandy
7)whew
The problem is that for some reason the email from Sandy to confirm the secondary address (of the yahoo group owner) isn't getting through. I tried sending email from other accounts to the .....-owner @ yahoogroups.com address and they got through. Sandy's doesn't though :(
So I had an idea to make it easy to get gCal events to Sandy:
If Sandy would accept emails from "calendar-notification @ google.com" (without having to verify), then we would be able to to forward google calendar notifications sent to our gmail to Sandy and she would accept them. (She also would have to accept the "[Reminder]" tag that is on the front of those emails instead of the usual "r" or "remind".
So what do you say? Any way we can make this happen?
Sandy is great. If she could just do a couple more things that some personal assistants can do, she could be even better. Top of my list would be for Sandy to bring me a document at an appointed time, and "sit" with me to work on it. Simple version - Sandy (via some FF extension or Prism perhaps) launches any web URL (ie. any Google Doc or other online doc) in a reminder. More complex version: Sandy also launches local files. Gold medal: Sandy optionally locks everything else on my computer for the time we're working together (with a further optional "interrupt" task button").
I have subscribed to the ical feed so Sandy's calendar will be sent to my Google Calendar, but when I add items, they are not shown on my Google Calendar and I do not receive reminders from Google regularly. I can unsubscribe and resubscribe and that seems to reset the reminders, but that's a pain.
Is there a way I can just send a refresh to Google Calendar?
They don't seem to be able to figure it out on their end. Is there a way Sandy can figure it out on her end so she can either send an automatic refresh every 10 or 15 minutes, or at least a manual option where we can just click on something and it will automatically send a fresh ical feed to update Google Calendar?
As a "new user" to Sandy how can can easily add existing appointments in either outlook or google's calendar to Sandy's information?
I've read all about "ical" and the google widget but I'm thinking I need to enter them individually to Sandy first then let them populate into ical/gcal/outlook?
It would be great if I could have Sandy lookup in my google contacts. Now that Google has released an api (with readonly access, I think), I'd like to:
lookup John Dough @google
or
lookup google "john@dough.com"
I'd use this from my phone for info not important enough to store on the phone (rarely-used contacts) or that the phone doesn't store well (info in notes, or odd fields like "assistant's name").
I would like to sync my google calendar events to and from Google Calendar / Sandy. Is this coming down the pike or it already a feature and I just can't find it?
I tried with the private url first given to me, Google Calendar failed that.
I then tried with;
* SunBird calendar application and
* Evolution for linux
they worked fine.
Back at iwantsandy i turned off private url, saved, then turned back on private url, saved, to acquire a brand new private url.
It still fails.
Can you please assist me with this problem? I am keen for this functionality in Google Calendar and I think I am the only one in here with this problem.
If Sady's going to be my virtual assistant, I figure she should know what's on my work and personal calendars too. Right now I can't get Sandy to subscribe to my Google Calendar or Apple iCalendar, and that's frustrating. Imagine an assistant that didn't know what appointments you had for the day!
This would be a useful feature, though -- then she could include all my appointments in her daily agenda emails, not just the ones I've sent to her. And she could watch out for conflicts or help me when I'm overbooking a day.
if there was a way that sandy would pass my sms reminders on to google calendar's sms update feature it might make them play nicer.
(see: http://urltea.com/38f1?gcal_sms_docum...)
sandy: r lunch meeting tomorrow at 2pm
gCal: lunch meeting tomorrow at 2pm
so close... there's gotta be a way, right? This would cover most, if not all, of the relationship sandy needs to have with gCal
Although I subscribed to my private ical feed in Google Calendar, my items don't show up at all. I subscribed in Mac ical and the items do show up there. What gives?
It would be useful if Sandy could email me information from Google maps based on an email query. For example, "Find me a pub near Portsmouth" or Directions from Gosport to Oxford".
The url required to generate this information from Google maps is straightforward and should be easy to construct. Sandy would then have to scrape the resulting web page for the information and email it back.
