Sandy says I am not following her on Twitter, but I am.

Sandy says I am not following her on Twitter, but I am:

    > You're not "following" me on Twitter yet. Please go to http://twitter.com/s and click "follow," then try again.

Of note is that I changed my Twitter username. However, I double-checked that the new username I entered into Sandy was correct, and that I was following @s from my new account.

    Twitter decongested

    Howdy!

I wanted to provide a quick status update on Sandy's Twittering abilities following yesterday's Twitter congestion [http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...] due in no small part to WWDC [http://developer.apple.com/wwdc/] and the sheer number of people following the "Stevenote" [http://events.apple.com.edgesuite.net...].

The Twitter status blog reports that the "API request limit has been restored to 20 per hour." Sandy talks to Twitter as much as she's allowed — which means she'll be picking up your tweets every 3 minutes or so given the current rate limit.

If you happen to notice any Twitter updates before we do, please do share the latest here with your fellow Sandy clients!

    Best,

Lookup command sent via email fails when sent via Twitter

I have a contact in my list called "Chincoteague Island Vacations." I sent the following instruction via email:
    l chincoteague contacts
and Sandy returned an email with the contact information I wanted. In other words, it worked perfectly.

Then, just to make sure I could get the same information via mobile if necessary, I used Twitter to DM Sandy with the exact same text. It didn't work. I got the standard "does not compute" response ("Hello! To remember/remind: 'd s r take a break in 15 min'; To update: 'd s u 1 @done'; For more: iwantsandy.com/examples").

Shouldn't the responses to lookups (and to everything) be the same whether one uses email or Twitter?

Why doesn't Sandy grok some of my reminders?

Why doesn't Sandy seem to recognize some messages? From the Sandy website, twitter, and thwirl, I say things like "d s r call restaurant in 1.5 hours @todo" and she doesn't recognize it. I've noticed other words that seem to confuse her too.

Is there a list of bad words/syntax?

    I notice there's a similar issue: http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...

Just Stop With this Twitter Madness

I'm tired of losing functionality of Sandy because Twitter is acting up.

Sandy is great. But Twitter isn't. From looking through their help stuff, it seems that XMPP is the first thing that gets shut off when there's a problem.

    But this is about Sandy.

Are there any plans on using something a bit more reliable? Because this is just getting ridiculous.

Show all items in list on Twitter

    Hi,
Really thought I had found a site that would do everything I wanted but find that when I ask her for e.g. my ToDo list via Twitter I just get my first item - how unhelpful is that :-(

Personally I would like each list item to come through as a different Twitter, that way I can easily reply and knock them off the list as I do them and still have a running list of those outstanding. I realise there's a 160 character limit but doubt anyone will have a list item of longer than that!!

    Defaulting reminders as to-do's

I'd really like the option to set reminders to default to being todo's. I use iwantsandy most through twitter from my phone and having to add "@todo" on to the end of everything takes up 5 characters and is annoying.

The reason I want to be able to do this is because it would be great if I could get a list back from sandy of everything that I've asked her to remind me about, in the style of a to-do list.

    Useful/not?

    Why can't I add a "@high" tag via twitter?

When trying to send a new reminder via Twitter, for example "d s r Remind to whatever today @todo @high", when adding a "@high" tag, the message won't get picked up by Sandy.

I was using @high, @med, @low tags to set priority—the @low and @med went through twitter just fine, but @high just throws me back a message from Sandy that I'm guessing is the Sandy-version of an error—the "Hello! To remember/remind: ...." response.

I've tried moving the @high before @todo, but that didn't change anything. If I drop @high, it works.

Also tried sending it through without the @high, then doing a "d s u #4 @high", which didn't work either. Adding some other random tag (say, @cheese) does work.

I don't see in the documentation that @high is a reserved tag—help? Thanks.

Twitter confirmation code isn't trimmed before checking for validity

When signing up for twitter/sandy integration, Sandy sent a confirmation code via twitter. When I pasted the code into Sandy's configuration screen, Sandy told me that the code wasn't valid -- but it was! it simply had a few trailing spaces. I think that the string should be trimmed before being checked to get rid of this problem.

Twitter reminders keep coming despite being turned off

I've set the "Would you like me to send you reminder tweets?" to off in my Settings but it has no effect. It might have something to do that I've sent the reminders through Direct Message in Twitter and not by email (which I never use anyways).

This is actually only my secondary problem. My original intent was to turn of the Twitter confirmations (not actual reminders) but there's no such an option to be found. Because I deliver my tweets to my mobile, these confirmations (for me at least) are just spam.

Quicksilver, Web Snippets, and Twitter SMS

    Howdy!

Our good friend Greg Borenstein over Ideas for Dozens has written up some wonderfully helpful articles on:

    Working with Sandy via Twitter/SMS

A port of the fabulously useful "QuickSilver Append Trick" (for the incomparable QuickSilver on Mac OS X

And, my personal favorite of his write-ups — keeping things front-and-center using Safari's new Web Snippets feature

    Greg writes:

I've made two Sandy-related widgets: one for my appointments for the month and one for my items tagged @computer. I use the @computer tag in a GTD-ish manner to specify TODO items that I can accomplish at my computer.

One of the big lessons I've learned from my attempts at doing GTD has been the importance of putting your inboxes and other TODOs directly in your path, someplace you'll stumble over them in the course of your normal daily operations. And these little applications are a really lightweight way to do just that, eliminating nearly all the friction involved in maintaining and making reference to my lists and reducing the opportunity for fiddling to a minimum.

If GTD is your cup of Rooibos, I highly recommend you take his instructions for a spin.

    Thanks, Greg!

Sandy won't tweet me with list items, only list name.

I use Sandy with Twitter, since I'm abroad and don't have mobile support. However, regardless whether I tweet Sandy via mobile or Twitter webpage, I don't receive the list items, just list name and tag. Everything else works fine. Although I get email confirmation of list items, I'd love to get the list items to Twitter.

Additionally, yesterday it took 10 hours for Sandy to respond to my tweets (got bunch of confirmations overnight) Was Sandy just busy with some Valentine's rendezvous or do others have this problem?

Setting @twitter turns off default email reminder

Just for the record, I have twitter reminders set to off by default. Today I've noticed that when I set @twitter for an event it turns off the email reminder that is set by default. In order to have both email and twitter reminders for this particular event I need to add the @email tag. This is a bit inconvenient. I'd prefer to have email reminders set as always on, no matter what other ways of reminding me I add for the event.

    UPDATE for February 9th, 2008

    Howdy!

Last night's update brought with it some brand new calendar subscription functionality (specially — though not only — for you Google Calendar folk), enhanced printing, fixed Twitter and Jott lookups, and other tweaks and twiddles...

NEW: iCal, gCal, we-all-Cal with iCal

Read all about it at http://gsfn.us/t/axn.

FIXED: Better understanding of "dotty" time ranges

Sandy occasionally finds our human brand of punctuation disconcerting (and who doesn't? ;-) And that's why we are always working with Sandy to ever-more-accurately pick dates and times out of our messages.

To that end, Sandy now fully groks "dotty" time ranges — those chock full of periods or dots like this one: "10 a.m. to 9:45 p.m."

If you're finding Sandy still has trouble with your particular brand of specifying dates and times, please help us help Sandy help you: post the nitty-gritty details here on GetSatisfaction and we'll get it all sorted for you.

    ENHANCED: Printing

Earlier this week we rolled out a completely reworked the print stylesheet [Read all about it at http://gsfn.us/t/axx] to produce a nice lovely paper copy of Your stuff or your Daily Digest.

And we just couldn't keep ourselves from enhancing Sandy's printed self still further!

    * You'll find a "Print" link to both the Your stuff and Daily Digest (i.e. your iwantsandy.com home page). 1. Click > 2. Print > 3. Fold > 4. Experience increased increased awareness of what your day holds.

    * Sandy's full-color beaming countenance has been replaced with a grey-scale (though no less beaming) version to save your printer a drop or three of color.

    * The font size was reduced ever so slightly to fit more on a single page, saving you some paper-shuffling and the planet some lovely trees.

    * Sandy now includes a reminder about checking in with her at the end of the day so that you can synch up on anything you crossed off the paper copy of your to-do list, added to the calendar, or otherwise would like her to remember for you.

FIXED: Lookups via Twitter and Jott

We inadvertently introduced a bug that caused Sandy (and you) some head-ache around looking things up via Twitter and Jott. This has been rectified and you should now be seeing results returned as expected.

If you are still having trouble for some reason, please do post here and let us know.

    TWEAKED: Pagination honors "Include..."

Thanks to the terrific eyesite of Sandy's client "Bluedrums" [http://gsfn.us/t/ay7], we were alerted to and fixed a bug that caused pagination (clicking the "<->" links) to forget any "Include done", "Include archived", and "Include past" toggling you'd done in the right-hand sidebar's advanced filtering and sorting.

    FIXED: Replying re-honors preferences

Also introduced during our updates of the other evening was a bug which confused Sandy into replying to email when you'd plainly asked her not to (in your Email settings at http://iwantsandy.com/settings/email). Kudos to Marshall for noticing and fixing the issue all but immediately.

TWEAKED: Line-height of individual items in lists

Individual items were wrapping oddly in some browsers. Thanks, Shawn [http://gsfn.us/t/9ar] for pointing it out!

    Onward and upward!

    Twitter to Sandy

    Hello friends of Sandy,

As some of Sandy's more adventurous clients have already noticed*, Sandy's more than aflutter over Twitter [http://twitter.com]. She's ready to chat with you by direct private message from your mobile phone over text/SMS or your desktop via instant messenger (AIM, iChat, Gtalk, and LiveJournal).

Twitter with Sandy by direct private message just as you would any of your other Twitter friends and she'll twitter you back (almost always within a minute).

To get Twitter and Sandy talking, visit your Twitter settings at http://iwantsandy.com/settings/twitter and follow the 4 easy steps to introduce Sandy to your Twitter self.

Essentially, you'll become Twitter friends, mutually following one-another.

    Then try:

    > d s hi

(In Twitter-speak, this means: "Send Sandy a direct private message saying 'hi'." Note that Sandy's Twitter user name is "S" rather than "Sandy" or "iwantsandy", saving your thumbs some mobile typing.)

Sandy will reply to your tweet with instructions on asking her to remember or remind you about things, look things up, etc.

    > Hi, I'm Sandy, your personal assistant.
    > Set a reminder: r go for a walk in 15 mins
    > Look something up: l today
    > Invite a friend: invite pat@example.com
    > About me: visit iwantsandy.com
    > More examples: visit iwantsandy.com/examples
    > Help: visit iwantsandy.com/help/twitter

Right now Sandy will respond to "remember" or "remind" ("r" in even shorter shorthand), "lookup" ("l" as in lower-case "L"), and "invite" ("i"). She'll soon be able to update and forget on Twitter just as she does in email.

    ****
Don't forget the "d s" bits when twittering to Sandy!** Twitter is a broadcast medium by default, so simply twittering "remember to wear pants" (while an entertaining tweet ;-) will go out to all of your Twitter followers rather than privately to Sandy.
    ****

You'll find more detail on Sandy's Twitter help page at http://iwantsandy.com/help/twitter

    Enjoy!

    Rael

    * Rich over at Dinsdale! not only noticed that Sandy was paying attention to tweets before we even had a chance to announce this feature ;-), he even wrote up a lovely how-to. [http://dinsdalepiranha.wordpress.com/...]

    Twitter reminders

    Howdy!

Here's a little something we've been all aflutter about over here at Sandy Central...

If you're a twitterer, Sandy can now send you reminder tweets using the Twitter's direct private messaging feature [http://help.twitter.com/index.php?pg=...].

From there you can redirect those reminders to your mobile phone by SMS/text message (of course you can already have Sandy do that); your desktop via AIM, iChat, Gtalk, and LiveJournal; or just silence when you want a little quiet time.

This is one small step for Sandy, but the first toward accept tweets from your cellphone and IM client.

You'll find my Twitter page at: http://twitter.com/s

(I'm using "S" rather than "iwantsandy" to save your thumbs some mobile typing.)

Find out more about twittering with Sandy at: http://iwantsandy.com/help/twitter

Or just go ahead and introduce Sandy to your Twitter you at: http://iwantsandy.com/settings/twitter

    Enjoy!
