Advanced lookup functionality
I am wondering if there is a way to ask Sandy to lookup items by tag and also excluding another tag at the same time (i.e. for items that have multiple tags - lookup all items tagged @todo but excluding those to-do items that are also tagged as @work). Is this possible, and if so, how?

Inappropriate?Hi Gtvolpe,
Good to hear from you!
I'm afraid you can't currently do that, although it is something we've had on our nice-to-have list for a while now. Thanks for bumping it back up into our consciousness again.

Inappropriate?Last response was six months ago . .. I too would like to use some boolean logic to my searches. As I understand it if I search by the tags A and B, Sandy returns a list with those items that have both tags followed by those items with only the tag A, and then those with only B. But as my Sandy data grows these sorts of list get very, very long. I really need to be able to search for just those items that meet all conditions.

Inappropriate?I agree. There should be a way to specify what tags we want to search for more precisely.
It would be great if the operators AND OR and NOT could be supported. (Maybe the symbols + and - should be used instead of words though.)
And there really should be a way to find untagged items.
Here are some ideas:
By email: (and Twitter)
> lookup @todo AND @project1
> lookup @todo AND NOT @work
> lookup dry cleaning @todo @AND @NOT @work
The "tag cloud" on Sandy's website:
Selecting both tags "project1" and "todo" currently does an OR search.
By URL:
http://iwantsandy.com/list?tags=todo,... (This currently does an OR search)
http://iwantsandy.com/list?tags=todo+... (Idea for an AND search)
http://iwantsandy.com/list?tags=todo+... (idea for an AND NOT search)
http://iwantsandy.com/list?tags= (To find items with no tags.)
(Other ideas for no tags. tags=undefined or tags=notag or tags=untagged)
By Jott:
> lookup tags todo and work
> lookup tags todo and project1 and not work
(Note: the search box on Sandy's website should not be relied on to search for tags.
Typing in "@todo" will only return those items that contain the actual text "@todo". This is usually only found in the "context" of the item. Example: "remember to buy milk @todo") -
Good suggestions, Kevin. I getting the feeling that Sandy's helpers don't realize just how much a problem it is not providing an option to use boolean logic on searches. I have a lot of stuff in Sandy, but it is just too difficult to extract exactly what I need when I need it. -
Inappropriate?Oops. I just realized that the + is currently used by Sandy for tags that contain a space.
So maybe my idea needs to be modified. Or maybe the space can be encoded. A lot of other websites do that.
