Dial2Do now works with Sandy
Just wanted to update the community that dial2do appears to work perfectly with Sandy, and is basically a complete (free!) replacement for Jott. They've even added it as an official command, just select it from the list of "Organize" options, and use your private IWantSandy e-mail address. Then, whenever you say Sandy, the transcriptions are e-mailed directly to her. Also, I just tested it, and tagging also works (using the "tag with" option). Awesome.

Inappropriate?excellent - transcription had no problem with my funny accent too.... But couldn't get "tag with" to work (didn't come out as "@"... came out as "tag with"). Any hints?

Hi - Sean from Dial2Do here. We don't currently support tagging. So Dial2Do right now just transcribes what you say, as accurately as possible, with no "interpretation" - for example "at"s or tag-with. We have some thoughts in this area, and would be happy to learn what you'd like to have happen (in a perfect world). Cheers, Sean -
Hi Sean - I would say special casing "tag with" to mean "@" would be fine and would work well (& is how Jott does it). But the real killer app is being able to create lists (already discussed here: http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy... and http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...). I can get a single reminder item into Sandy pretty quickly with SMS; however getting a 5 or 6 item list into Sandy is where voice transcription would be *really* useful (& is something I'd pay for) -
That's odd. I can definitely say that when I added "tag with todo", it was trascribed perfectly as @todo. I can even look it up in my Dial2Do history, and there it is. In fact, I was impressed at how this actually worked. Has "todo" been given some special priority? I haven't tried any other tags, yet... -
OK, today "tag with" seems to work (comes out as "@"). I don't think I did anything different... confused but happy (hopefully it will keep on working...) -
Hi Wayne - would love to chat re: lists. Am especially tempted to get you as a paying customer for Dial2Do :-) Maybe we can discuss further how we could make this happen? Would be need collaboration with Sandy folks? -
Actually, tagging seems to be hit or miss. The first time I tried "tag with todo", it was converted to @todo and worked great. The next time I tried "tag with home", and that's all I got. No @home. It seems like the tools are in place to make this happen, so hopefully they (i.e. Sean) get it worked out. -
Inappropriate?Does this require somehow listing Dial2do as your Alternate Address?
Or has Rael gotten behind this too? -
No. All e-mails from dial2do to Sandy are shown as coming from your e-mail address (the one used as your account in dial2do). As long as it's the same one you use for Sandy, you're golden. -
Inappropriate?I just tried Dial2Do (signed up, added Sandy as a contact, took about 3 minutes). I didn't have to list Dial2Do as an alternate address.
The message posted perfectly to my Sandy calendar. -
It appears to work because when one signs up, one signs up an email address as "Me". Dial2Do then uses that email address as the "from" address in the message it sends. -
Inappropriate?I think the tagging function is something that sandy understands from the good old days when Jott was free. sandy underestood "tag with" as an ampersand. I'm excited about this development. Now if we can only get those morning reminders working properly.
I’m hopeful
