How do I get a reminder on a certain date for a future deadline without Sandy trying to logically link together those dates?
I frequently have a deadline or appointment coming up that I need to ensure I don't forget with a tickler. So for instance, say that I want to make sure I renew my Drivers license by 6/13. But I am only out of the office Tuesday morning, and no other time until then, therefore I try telling Sandy:
remind tues 9am Renew Drivers license by 6/13
Instead of telling me "Renew Drivers License by 6/13" on Tues 9AM, she strings together these two apparent dates illogically:
Fri, 6/13 9:00am - Wed, 6/3/2009 9:00am Renew Drivers
This doesn't make sense! I want Sandy to remind me on Tues, then I can snooze it for 24 hours or so if I can't go get my driver's license renewed.
How do I make Sandy understand me??
Thanks!

Inappropriate? This should work the way you expect, send:
remind me "Renew Drivers license by 6/13" tue 9am
It should create an item "Renew Drivers license by 6/13" with a reminder set on next tuesday @ 9am -
Inappropriate?I would like this as well. I don't like having to go to the website and manually set the reminder for an earlier date.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?OK well I was able to do it with Jott by saying open quote, and end quote. However it still does not schedule the actual event, just the reminder.
What I want to do is say remind me about "the picnic on August 2nd" on July 30th.
I want the reminder on the 30th which I am getting, but it's still not scheduling the actual event on August 2nd.

Inappropriate?Using email, you can do it in two steps. First, you create an item with:
remind me the picnic Aug 2
then, once you receive a confirmation from Sandy, you reply:
remind me jul 30
That way you will get an appointment on Aug 2 with a reminder on jul 30.
I guess that solution will not work with Jott. -
Inappropriate?Well it could work, I would just have to send two jotts. It would just be nice to be able to have it work all as one.
Thanks for taking the time to reply! -
Inappropriate? You can also implement Norbiq's solution in one e-mail using two lines:
Remember wash dog on 9/1
Remind me to "wash dog on 9/1" 8/15 -
Inappropriate?Oops, they updated to allow:
Remember X on 9/1 @reminder 7 days before
be sure to say "before"
