How do you get Sandy to look up something and send it as a text message?
Is there a way to have sandy send something that you look up as a Text message? I'm looking up my grocery list on my email and want to take it with me by sending a text message instead of logging into an email application on my phone. Any suggestions would be nice on how to do this or something like it.

Inappropriate? You can use Twitter to communicate with Sandy, and have Twitter send updates to your phone via SMS ("d s lookup listname"). You can also tell Sandy, when you create the list, to remind you about the list via SMS ("remind me about listname in 15 minutes"). In either case, I've only been able to get the list title on my phone, not the list contents. I might be doing it wrong.
Although I'm a big fan of Sandy, Remember The Milk (.com) does what you're asking quite well (via Twitter or SMS or both). -
Inappropriate?I second this request. (I asked it myself a while ago.) John is right. You can set up a Twitter account so that you can send Sandy messages via Twitter. However, there's a couple of problems with this.
I send a text message to Twitter, and tell Twitter to send a "direct message" to Sandy. Then, Sandy will reply to my Twitter account with another direct message, and Twitter will forward the message to my cell phone. You must have the Twitter account set up so that either *all* messages sent to your Twitter account are forwarded to your cell phone, or that only *direct messages* sent to your Twitter account are forwarded to your cell phone.
Send Twitter a text message like this:
> d s lookup shopping list.
First, like John said, even if you do all this, and request a list from Sandy, you will only receive the *name* of the list in a response over Twitter. Not the items in the list. Second, I don't like to text. Period. I want to use Jott to send a message to Sandy, and instruct her to reply to my cell phone via sms. There currently isn't a way to do that properly.

Problems with Sandy, Jott and Twitter
----
There isn't a way to Jott to Sandy and have her reply via sms to my cell phone. Trying to tag a lookup with @sms just tells Sandy to add "@sms" to the search criteria. If I Jott to Sandy, she will reply by whatever her settings are. There isn't a way to override this behavior for just that particular message. For me, Sandy will always reply via email. (My reply via email setting is turned on.) There is a setting in Sandy to "always reply to everything by sms" but I don't want that either. So that option won't give me what I want. There is also a setting in Jott that will give me a confirmation sms message for every Jott. but I don't want that either.
So instead I've looked into sending Sandy a Jott via Twitter. The idea is that she should respond via Twitter.
Jotting Sandy through Twitter
----
Speed dial Jott.
Say "Twitter". (Or whatever name you have it set up as.)
> d s lookup shopping list.
One problem is making Jott say "d s". You have to be careful.
1 > "Dee Ess lookup shopping list" -> "ds lookup shopping list"
2 > "direct Ess lookup shopping list" -> "direct s lookup shopping list"
3 > "Dee Space Ess lookup shopping list" -> "d s lookup shopping list"
4 > "Dee Space Ess lookup shopping list" -> "d s, lookup shopping list"
#3 is correct. Also, you have to be careful to not pause too long after the "Ess". Otherwise, Jott will put a comma in there and then it's no longer a direct message.
Even when you do it right (#3), I get confusing results. It seems that Twitter also sends Sandy the Jott URL. Sandy gets confused and replies that she wasn't able to find anything.
Sandy receives:
> look up shopping list. http://tinyurl.com/3uwmcx
It's weird because I tried the same thing via Jott to Sandy (without using Twitter) and Sandy replies correctly. She sends a response to Jott and a response via email.
Sandy receives:
> look up shopping list.
I tried several workarounds. I tried to add something after "shopping list" I added some sort of tag. I found out that Jott must have some special filters in place for when Jotting to Sandy. It turns "tag with" into @, etc.
5 > "Dee Space Ess lookup shopping list tag with todo"
Sandy receives:
> look up shopping list tag with to do. http://tinyurl.com/3uwmcx
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Hey Kevin,
Yep, I have this question too, and was thinking of experimenting along the same lines that you described. Good to know the results. Hey iwantsandy.com folks--this would be a fantastic feature!
